Forums - Gaming - Why do so many gamers dislike Halo?

I don't think that a lot of people really hate Halo. They say that they do but don't. What they really hate is Microsoft. Master Chief and Halo have become the mascot for XBox. Is it the greatest shooter ever ? No. Is it good? Yes. Some people are also put off by FPS in general. I do think it's more of the fact that it's the symbol of Microsoft's XBox however. The same question can be asked about people hating Mario. I don't think that many people really hate Mario but hate Nintendo. It's easier to say I hate Mario or I hate Master Chief or I hate Crash Bandicoot than the actual company. Wait. People are indifferent to Crash Bandicoot. They do hate Sonic though.

as a gamer and a nintendo fan
if a system that i dislike gets a gr8 game i would say its a gr8 game
but halo ? its a normal slow boring fps with nothing new.. nothing new is not a problem as long as its fun ! but its no fun either ! CoD4 added nothing new but it was fun !

Boy that was harder than I thought :P

OT: I still play H3 from time to time but it does get old like any FPS. As a gamer who's getting bored of FPS genre I think that's the only reason why I don't like it NOW.

i enjoyed the original but the sequel lost something. I have never played the third installment but the common viewpoint is the original was the best. Great game that was let down by the sequel IMO.

I don't like Halo because the character models (big deal for me). The weird wepons, the vehicles in the game (always make a FPS bad). The armor that begins to glow when it is damaged. The balance in the game. The never understanding of the story.

 

The thing I did like was the co-up in the original Halo but not in the others.



Think twice before helping a friend in need.

I can never understand how people say Halo has no story. I love the story in Halo as it's one of my favorites in video games period!

Actually, Perfect Dark was better. And so was Half-Life

 Never played Perdect Dark always wanted too but doubt that its better. Half-Life sucks too. IMO

 

Realize what you are doing: you are stating an opinion about the quality of a game you haven't played. How can you do that with a straight face?. While we are on the topic, have you played HL2?

It's alright, the story is pretty good, but i find the game to be very repeditive, same as Resistance: Fall of Man.

Multiplayer is another story though.

Also agreed, but I think 95% of all FPS are repetitive. (even though I'm a very big FPS fan :P)
