Forums - General - Is there a god?

@lolita - Life seems like a fairy tale to me.

Prediction: Wii passes 360 in US between July - September 2008. (Wii supply will be the issue to watch, and barring any freak incidents between now and then as well.) - 6/5/08; Wow, came true even earlier. Wii is a monster.

On a serious tip, it isn't hard to look out in every day life, and admire the beauty of creation and the intricate workings of the universe.

If you ask me, it was designed that way. By what or who is a question you answer for yourself.

There is a creator. If you want to call this entity, yaweh, elohimgod etc etc.
You must also need to believe in Math/science.
I am not a, as you would consider Christian, I do believe in Christ, love christ, My beliefs are different becasue I have studied theology, and i mean theology, not just one or 2 religions, everything from summerian to Rael to scientology, PS I am not a scientologist.
I would love to talk about what I beleive, but do not really want to open a can of worms or be ridiculed. I was rasied catholic, when I took on cover ups while working for uncle sam, my eyes were opened up. I believe what I believe becasue I have seen proof.

I'm interested

I'm Jewish. Not all that religious, though... I believe that no mortal can conceive of God, and believe that because of this, no mortal should claim they know enough about God to declare intents. My concept of God is rather vague, and tends to evolve.

I'm an atheist, but not the preachy, argumentative type. It's not my place to try and change people's beliefs, and I really wish that the Christians on my college campus shared this view.

I worship the greatness of the FSM in all his Noodly Glory.

RAmen brothers, RAmen.

No. there is no god.

Actually the christian church is the reason why there are so many unsolved problems on this planet.

The church always tried to kill science and has to go more and more "back" because everything they explained with gods existence gets explored by sience today. Just wait another 50 years and we know even a lot more. The church defends itself by saying "as long as you can´t explain everything we can believe in god" which ist stupid - we will never know everything.

Ladies and Gentleman, God is pain. The christian god killed more people on this planet (and is killing, look at aids, the stem cell debate ("you´re made by god, your not allowed to heal people via stem cells"...but via penicilin of course) than all deseases ever did...

Sounds crazy, doesn´t it? But it´s true. Wait 100 years and you´ll see the people there will laugh about our conservative opinions. As we love about the middle age now.

i'm an agonist... although the term "protestant empathizer" is closer to my mentality since like the first 10 or 12 years of my schooling was first in christian and then protestant so it does have an effect. but it wasn't until only two or three years back that i truly understood my position on this issue.

rationally, my logic is heavily influenced by sociology and evolutionary psychology, basically an academic approach. but i tend not to philosophize about this topic too much because of my "protestant empathizer" mentality, and also because it really isn't something i need to worry about so much. most of the time, resorting to sociology and evolutionary psychology is good enough for me.

the Wii is an epidemic.

What I´d like to add is:

The Posibility of us beeing created by a "god" is very small. You can´t say "we have to be created we can´t just be here coming from nowhere" but in the same sentence people say "god was just there".

Wonderful. God can, we can´t... pretty crazy.

A Little story: Recently cientologists discovered a new planet where life could be possible.
Imagine we´d send a space ship to this planet with humans in it.

If such a ship would ever reach this planet there wouldn´t be a posibility of coming back for them. They´d have to live on this planet, they´d discover science again, would have a society, culture... and they´d ask themselves all the time: "where do we come from?"

Sounds cool, doesn´t it?

Did anyone hear about time - Curvature? This could explain the big bang, it is even quite possible. Still, no god.

Our problem is: We always ask where does something come from?

Actually, "Time" is not a line that just goes in one way. Time is a dimension like up-down and left-right are dimensions, too. We just can´t walk trough it. Without a body travelling through the time would be like "Hey Jake, go to the kitchen and bring me a beer, please!" ---> Jake goes to the kitchen and he actually travels through time while doing this. cuz time is something like left and right, just into another direction.

This is confirmed by Albert Einstein. Time IS left-right in another direction.

Imagine you are in an empty room and you can´t walk to the other side because there is a wall in front of you. the wall is your body, without the wall you could walk to the other side.

And it´s quite possible that thoughts are a wave-particle-dualism. If that´s true you´ll be able to pass this wall after you died.

but still, I can see no god here.

And I´m still angry about my bad english...
