I remember calling the 'haters' wrong because DA The Veilguard was selling well.

I don't think Veilguard ever recouped the investment it had into it.
I heard from people on yt/twitter ect, it was down like 150-200m.

Like if a game, losses you upto $200m.... "selling well" is a spectrum.
It didn't do well enough.

The thing is, most people could see this a mile away.
Most expected this outcome. I myself was in those threads back then, saying this was going to flop.

The hookwink (it was marketed/previewed with trailers much differnt from the end results), of the gameplay/story/elements....
and the controversy around Taash and all the woke elements in it.

Alot of the core fans didn't want to see the game turn out that way.
This is what happens when businesses turns its back to its consumer base.
When you have devs come out and say they "hate gamers" ect.

It costs you in the sales department.
And ultimately any game studio that cannot support itself,.... is at risk of getting shut down.

This time the gamers were: You exist because we allow it. Now you have ended because we demanded it.

Thier is a possibility they can be saved from other parties including the Canadian government but will they listen?  I rather Larian gets expanded and does something with the Mass Effect IP.

It might suck to hear but.... that old line, "the customer is always right" is what is at work here.

The LGBTQ+ woke agenda stuff is something for like the 0.2% of the population.
And while perhaps as many girls in total play games, as guys.... the types of games played and where they are played differ.
The vast majority of the market (for these games) is just a random dude.
Your game needs to appeal to that dude, or it just wont sell well.

Modern audiences don't ever show up to support games (in any meaningful way).
Despite how much PR they might get on blusky or twitter.
Ultimately what matters is not critics, or echo chambers online that applaud you for representation in games..... its actual gamers that buy your game.

If the avg guy around the world, could give 2 f***s about representation, and most are annoyed with woke agendas forced into games.
The lesson surely should be.... don't do it?

For some reason, these game developers turned justice warriors.... don't seem to care, that much.
They value their beliefs higher than the care & effort they would put into making a good product that sells.

Which then leads to flops and cancelled games, or shut down studios.

There always has to be some political grandstander who spins everything to be about their ridiculous political agenda rather than discussing (or showing any interest in discussing) any relevant points of the story.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

To be fair, Anthem was their most apolitical game in recent years, and it was probably the worst game they ever made. And Veilguard would still have been absolute trash even if it had been apolitical or a MAGA propaganda piece. There were clearly more fundamental problems going on at the company.
