Forums - Gaming - Name a Franchise That Is Never Coming Back

Tagged games:

Many of the franchises mentioned here seem like ones that probably won't be making an appearance any time soon, but at the same time, they're well-known enough that at least some of them will probably make a return at some point in the future. They might not be respectful of the original games, but the name will probably be utilized anyway.

Golden Sun.

Hmm. Not that long ago I was sure Gungrave was never coming back but it did. Same with Wonderboy. Assault Suit Leynos.Shenmue. Streets of Rage. Onimusha.  Same with Slave Zero. Psyvariar, Truxton and ore. I thought was never coming back. So some of the more obscure series thought for dead came back.

With that said. I doubt SEGA cares about EX Ranza/Ranger X. Binary Domain or VanQuish. I do think those are dead. I kinda want to list a bunch of games but mentally drained tonight. For now just keep it simple. I doubt those come back but you never really know. Someof the series I mentioned went 30 years without a new entry until recently.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Sadly Burnout as much as I'd love to see a new game. Which is a damn shame.

Pandora's Tower. Excellent game, hadn't much success, I highly doubt it is ever revisited.

3DS-FC: 4511-1768-7903 (Mii-Name: Mnementh), Nintendo-Network-ID: Mnementh, Switch: SW-7706-3819-9381 (Mnementh)

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025

10 years greatest game event!

Feels like Punch Out. At least they're keeping the legacy of Little Mac alive via Smash Bros but I was really hoping for a new installment on the Switch.

Nintendo has gone two generations without it before though, so hopefully we get a new one on Switch 2.

Mass Effect is probably DOA at this point.

Dead Space.

Mirror's Edge.

Xenosaga, unless you count Gears/Saga/Blade as a single franchise.

I wouldn’t say never for Xenosaga… it seems to me at least that somebody’s cooking something up for that franchise.

Katsuhiro Harada tried to revive it while he was still at Bandai Namco, and got shot down cold.

Xenosaga is pretty much going to live on as KOS-MOS cameos in Xenoblade.

Manhunt, beyond good and evil

Bloody Roar maybe? Franchise hasn't had a new game since 2003, and not sure when one was last (officially) playable on any system?
