Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Direct (Sept 2026): Expectations & Wishes

I don't think we'll get a 2027 3D Mario on a September direct. I think the last game will be Metroid 6. We'll probably get all the RE Remakes, a look at MH Wilds and maybe Starfield.

I can see we getting FF15, AC4BF Resynced and some 3rd party games. I also expect a Zelda movie trailer.

I expect more gameplay info about Zelda: OoT and Xenoblade Genesis hopefully.

No, we're just assuming that Nintendo will follow the same "Direct in September" routine they've done al but one year since 2017.

I'm expecting the currently announced games, including Nintendo Switch Sports Resort and especially Ocarina of Time, to get more info. Ocarina of Time will likely be the main event.

Pokemon WW and Xenoblade Genesis might get details, but I don't think they'll be the focus. Instead, I think we'l get some new game announcements for the first half of 2027. Potential early-to-mid 2027 releases may include:

  • Kirby
  • Mario Kart World DLC
  • Metroid 6
  • Pikmin 5
  • WarioWare

Not yet, though Ubi did announce that their leaked upcoming Just Dance game will have info coming September 10th. (Ubi has never revealed a new Just Dance outside of Ubisoft Forwards and Nintendo Directs, and Ubisoft Forwards don’t happen anymore.)

That combined with September always being Direct month and the slate of upcoming first-party Nintendo releases being completely void of release dates beyond Switch Sport Resort, it seems like a safe bet. Plus they just did a price hike, and they need some way of keeping consumer interest at a new price tag.

Honestly, i just want to see an ambitious game that starts showing off what Nintendo is capable of doing with the Switch 2. I feel like Bananza is the closer we got to this, but i would like to be wowed with a titled. Like i love Splatoon raiders and Fire emblem, but i feel like we need a heavy hitter. That could be the next big Mario game or anything else.

As much as I know it won't happen, I really want Nintendo Selects for the Switch.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I'm hoping for Mario Kart Updates and DLC. World needs elevating to motivate me to play it again. I'm still in the would rather just play MK8 instead mindset.

Also want a 3D World sequel, could launch in the Spring if the full 3D Mario is holiday 2027. DKC maybe.
