I don't think this is a reality. Console gamers don't care about PC, they want something cost effective to stick in their living room and already play most of their games digitally. This is a reality I think most need to accept. Console gamers lean digital and even most of those who don't, likely don't hate digital either. Suddenly Pokopia sold 50% of  its japanese launch sales digital because there is a stock shortage. I don't think it takes much for people to adapt.

The bigger issue for PS6 is its price. But hopefully this does cause enough backlash to warrant a change of tune and at least delay the date. When it comes down to genuine dollars I don't think it would wipe out much of Sonys audience but it could bury them under negativity and scrutiny.  

Also interesting that they separate this from PS6 announcement, likely they know the backlash but also maybe they're giving themselves room to change course without it effecting the systems future 

Due to RAM/NAND prices. Sony knew their next console and current console sales will plateau to a certain point. The days of 100 plus million consoles is over. So to counter this is why they are chasing live service despite constant failure. Kill physical and monetize hopeful big hit live service to a loyal core to make up the difference in revenue.

Now the only company that got your praise for attending your requirements is cutting the corners to maintain their profits margins because the production expenses skyrocketed.

You got that to yourselves, now stop crying and go buy their fancy games with fancy visuals that you always wanted and cut that facade of retro gamer who despise all modern stuff... you are fooling no one.

You just got lost on your character because it was too good to attack the other companies when they were the ones receiving negative press, but guess what... Companies will always do what they got do to maintain themselves in the game. It's up to you to know if the content that you are going to consume is worth your time, not some pedant community made up rules.
