but im still going to complain when they do bullshit

The fact that this is the best they have is a testament to how little they have going on right now.

the switch needed a new original title since they havent really had one thats worth a shit

was shameful then when sony did it and its shameful now.

we still deserve better than this.

what the fuck are you talking? These are direct quotes from your original post. The point I’m making in my last post stands, you’re acting like an entitled brat.

i know you dont like the words i used but you dont understand what the words mean, which is kind of a crucial aspect of the whole idea behind responding to a post. but whatever, i dont expect much from a dinosaur eating a pink sprinkle donut.

What is going on here? How does my post not directly address your post?

You’re complaining about Nintendo’s lineup, that it lacks big, new games and are propping up remakes as major releases. Is that not what your original post is about?

I gave a handful of direct quotes from you complaining and somehow you think I don’t understand what you’re talking about?

I stand by what I said, you’re displaying typical entitled gamer behavior and complaining that the lineup doesn’t cater to your individual desires.

Nintendo has released a whole bunch of new games this year but they “don’t count” for arbitrary reasons.

Mario Tennis-doesn’t evolve franchise

Pokopia-wasn’t mentioned

Tomodachi-wasn’t mentioned

Yoshi-too much like Woolly World

Star Fox-remake

Rhythm Heaven-b/c tier

Splatoon-wasn’t mentioned

Fire Emblem-wasn’t mentioned

Switch Sports-b/c tier

Zelda-remake

The issue isn’t Nintendo’s lineup, the issue is that you’re cherry picking what does and doesn’t count and in some cases just not acknowledging certain games.

There's not much to be said. You're either into what they've put out so far or you're not.

If you don't care for New Fire Emblem, New Xenoblade, Splatoon Raiders, or a remake of the most critically acclaimed Zelda Game, then there isn't anything here for you.

New 3D Mario isn't going to do anything for me because I don't like platformers in general. Didn't buy Mario Kart World either because I don't like that. I haven't played one single second of a Pokemon game ever. People complained about this recent Nintendo direct when there were 6 games from that direct I'm interested in buying.

Nintendo will be fine. Pokemon winds and waves is in the works and they have solid entries doing well now. Even Tomadachi Life being a Switch1 game will help Switch2 sales in buying that to play it along with Pokopia, MKW, and ZA.

ok well ill tell you something, my feeling on this year would be completely different if starfox were a proper original release, with that same art style and everything. that right there would have made a huge difference, and it wouldnt have affected negatively anything you are talking about. i do think the OoT remake should have been replaced with a new 3d mario, but look, id be a lot happier if we just got a star fox game. thatd have been enough to shut me up even though i still wouldnt like OoT being treated as some huge release when it just isnt.

Thats fair enough. This gen has been very remake heavy.

I haven't read to the bottom of the thread yet so someone may have already speculated this.

Thinking of Starfox and Zelda specifically what if these games are really Nintendo creating new engines for new games in these series?  Build and test the engine with a known element a game they know worked on previous hardware.  Save the new games for mid console life-cycle momentum fuel.

I think the key thing here is ambition. If Starfox was a new title, Splatoon Raider properly looked like a full fledged entry built for the ground up for Switch 2 and Yoshi was more of a mass appealing platformer I think all of my critique for the year would vanish and I'd give it an 10/10.

It's also a taste thing. I'm in the same boat... but ultimately Pokopia and Tomadochi were huge hits even if they are non events for me. Yoshi is an original effort even if it's not something I'm likely to touch. Splatoon Raiders/StarFox/Rhythm Heaven is decent enough Summer line up. Fire Emblem/Ocarina of Time/Sports Resort is a strong Holiday line up covering casual/mainstream and more niche audiences.

Nintendo has had genuine dud years before but this isn't one of them, it's just not one of their best.

It might not be your personal cup of tea, but im pretty sure theres is a large portion of Nintendo fans who will see the OoT release as a bigger deal than anything they released in last year's holiday lineup, and certainly not a "supporting release" as you are putting it.

Definitely the case for Star Fox I think. Im sure we`ll get a new game in the series in a year or two. Not sure about Zelda. Might be, but I feel like they will go closer to the BOTW art style on the next mainline one.

(!)^ Ocarina of Time remake is a literal dream cone true for me! I would place this title much higher than all but a new 3D Mario, Zelda, and Pikmin.

Horrible analogy but, I could see them trying to run a Coke and New Coke flavor concurrently, especially with the longer Dev cycles.  Appease the fans of the classic flavor (formula) with the OOT engine / formula and cater to the millions of new fans they captured with the current BotW / TotK formula.  After the series grew with the last 2 entries I can't see them pulling too far away from it.  This would also allow them, in theory, to put out a new Zelda every 4 years or so with up to 8 year dev cycles for each flavor.

(Not a horrible analogy btw, that makes perfect sense to me.) If Nintendo's thinking of doing this with Zelda though, that would legitimately be the greatest Nintendo news to have dropped in the nine years I've been following them. Traditional AND open air 3D Zelda coexisting with new releases complementing each other every four years? Oh man! Wow that would be awesome!!

nintendo isnt going to stick with the same art style for zelda indefinitely. i expect this art style that was used for botw and totk to be put to rest, just based on their history. but who knows. this last pair of zeldas sold like 50 million units or something? maybe thatll change their minds.
