I think the key thing here is ambition. If Starfox was a new title, Splatoon Raider properly looked like a full fledged entry built for the ground up for Switch 2 and Yoshi was more of a mass appealing platformer I think all of my critique for the year would vanish and I'd give it an 10/10.

It's also a taste thing. I'm in the same boat... but ultimately Pokopia and Tomadochi were huge hits even if they are non events for me. Yoshi is an original effort even if it's not something I'm likely to touch. Splatoon Raiders/StarFox/Rhythm Heaven is decent enough Summer line up. Fire Emblem/Ocarina of Time/Sports Resort is a strong Holiday line up covering casual/mainstream and more niche audiences.

Nintendo has had genuine dud years before but this isn't one of them, it's just not one of their best.
