Forums - Nintendo - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches 5th of November

I'd much prefer rasterised lighting on this, even on most PS5 games tbh. The Switch games that push RT still do not look as clean and polished as PS4s best looking games like Uncharted 4, TLOU2, FFVIIR, RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, GOW.

There's a very specific noisy and unstable look and feel of games pushing beyond the Hardwares native capacity. Whether it be crazy pop in, unstable shadows, poor image quality, low res FX etc...

I want an internal resolution (DLSS) no lower than 720p. Most of these RT games are coming from 540p and lower.

Even in Sony's recent GOW reveal. No sign of RT and that's the game looks super polished with really top level VFX, hair simulation etc

Thing is, it's not just RT that makes say Indiana Jones or Star Wars Outlaws have visible cutbacks, but more also that every aspect of them was developed for hardware much more powerful.

We haven't actually seen what a game with RT built from the ground up for Switch 2 could look like.

It will - SW2 already has games that weren't made from ground up that use RT, so I have no doubt that Nintendo devs will do marvels with clever combination of traditional techniques and RT.

Holodust beat me to it, but we've seen games like Star Wars Outlaws, Indiana Jones, and Layer of Fear utilize ray tracing on Switch 2, so the hardware is capable of doing so in a high fidelity game, with decent performance.

It's just up to the devs whether they want to go down that route, or stick with rasterized lighting instead.

While what you guys said if true, we're still to get a Nintendo game which uses it. I'm curious to see if they'll think RT is worth using due to how taxing it can be, especially framerate-wise.

Ocarina will be an interesting case.

Yes, so far we've yet to see Nintendo developed game with RT, but I think OoT might be good fit for it, at least inside Temples. Again, I think it will be clever combination of techniques, but we won't have to wait too long to see what they've cooked up.

Yeah, I wouldn't rule it out the team being able to balance it but given the associated cost I do want that to be one of the last things on the list. RTGI is the only RT that I think makes an immediate and valuable enough impact IMO and that is quite costly.

Some big hopes I have for them game; Fix the Great Fairy's blood curdling laugh, make Princess Ruto less of a brat, and if possible make Dead Hand scarier. I had plenty of scary bosses in 90s games, and they didn't make me insane. Other factors made me insane. -_-

You want the Great Faries more sanitized, but Dead Hand scarier?

It's not their designs that are the problem, it's that horrifying laugh.

We've discussed this weeks ago before we even knew the remake was a thing, but my money is on both of them being sanitized. The Great Fetishes will be less sexualized, and Dead Hand will be less nightmare-inducing.

I didn't mention her body even once, just her grating laugh.

DF took a look at it; apparently they believe the footage shown is in-game and runs at 1440p/60fps without DLSS.
