Forums - Sales - PS2 or Switch 1, which was better?

The winner is ..

PlayStation 2 10 43.48%

Switch 1 13 56.52%

Total:23

PS2.

It had the debut of some of the best series still around. Fatal Frame, God of War, Ratchet & Clank, the 3D GTAs, Kingdom Hearts, Jak and Daxter, Devil May Cry... It had an insane huge library without even having downloadable games.

The Switch was good, but... Not a system for me.

Y'know, my knee-jerk reaction to this list is "Oomphf!", but then I realized oh wait, that’s exactly the same I’d say but for Nintendo. Lol! We all got our own tastes, I suppose.

(Though PS5 above all others? I guess I could see that from the perspective of you can play all previous generations with the most modern tech... PS4 BC boosted to 60fps 4k is quite a treat on PS5, so I'll definitely give you that.)

Y'know, my knee-jerk reaction to this list is "Oomphf!", but then again, I also understand that different people have different tastes. Whereas I would pick any Nintendo system over any PlayStation anyday, you would say the opposite. (Though PS5 above all others? As you wondered for him, I'll answer for me, yes, every Playstation over any Nintendo system anyday, completely opposite from your personal experience.

To me the question has always been, what would be the best system every generation, and ever since Playstation exists, it is a non-brainer that it is it.

With the PS1 the Playstation became the place where most games where. During the PS1 and PS2 generarion if you picked anything other than the PS you were compromising the most on games.

With the 360 and beyond, Xbox became an equivalent of PS, PC also grew to that point during that time.

Either with PS or XB you had access to pretty much all games and from that you would choose what exclusives you liked more, thus why the exclusive talk became so strong, it was the differential.

What you are experiencing with PC now is what PS is since the PS1, pretty much every game is there, on top on Sony own games, which IMO are the best. PC has by far the upper hand on indies, and has come from a place to missing some very big games, to having them there with a delay, to now basically missing nothing, not even once console exclusives.

That's also what people with the Switch 2 are experiencing now, having access to other games people had access for years and enjoying them, because yes, if you only had a Nintendo you were missing on A LOT.

Playstation has been the singular place where that has been the experience since the beginning, since the 90s, so again, to me it has always been a non-brainer it was always, by far, the best platform to have, and IMO still is, with PC being arguably on par or better in many areas nowdays, outside of the consoles space.

well this is my opinion: nintendo has been the singular place that has been the experience since the beginning, since the 80s, so to me it has always been a no brainer it was always BY FAR the best platform to ever have OF ALL TIME and STILL IS with PC arguably being inferior to any nintendo system in many areas nowdays, outside of the console space.

how about that

They sold well without dropping the price (hardware). About games, MK8 and Animal Crossing sold better than PS2 top 10. This is simply absurd. Unfortunately, piracy was a kick in the eggs for Sony and studios.

That is your opinion alright.

If you are having fun and happy where you are, that is what matters.

Eww, who would play Super Metroid when we could play Sonic 2 in the Mega Drive.

Jokes aside, as I assume that reply was posed to be, disagreeing over things is really just normal, and it doesn't mean we can't talk about them.

Neat! Yeah I can definitely see where you’re coming from here— to speak on part of my Nintendo perspective, as a primarily Nintendo gamer, it’s not just that third-party isn’t my focus, it’s that Nintendo is pretty much all that I play. With the amount of offerings they provide in addition to being very family-friendly (I don’t like bloody violence in my games), there really isn’t much reason for me to stray too far from Nintendo.
