That was a relatively good State of Play with some cool stuff though I was hoping for a bigger look into the 2027 first party games.

Honestly this showing convinced me that PS6 must be next year and they're saving a bunch of games to reveal at the PS6 event (like the PS5 launch was stacked with crossgen PS4/PS5 games that were announced and released in 2020).

Until Dawn 2 is the only title we have with a 2027 release window. Then we have GoW:L presumably missing 2027 and who knows when intergalactic is coming out.

It's not like 2026 is stacked either. There's just Wolverine and TOKON coming over the next 7 months.

A big part of that will be my lack of context from the previous games but story and character wise I didn't really find that sequence compelling at all.

Me neither. I mean I dont care who I play as in video games, but could Sony at least keep a couple of the old male protagonists around? I mean are there any left? Seems like most of them are being switched out for a female counterpart. I want to see what happens to Kratos next. Not his dead wife running around with a big gelatin cube. WTF was that?

Replacing a super popular protagonist that has been around for over 20 years is definitely a risky move for the game and I can respect the boldness of that though if I was a big God of War fan I would imagine I'd have mixed feelings about it. For the gender part there is indeed the question on if they'd do this sort of bold move for Horizon 3 but with Saros having recently released and Wolverine coming out later this year I'm not too fussed over it.

That is very possible. If for example Intergalactic will be a cross-gen release next year they'll wanna wait till the PS6 reveal till they show off gameplay from that version. Either way I hope there's confirmation on if the PS6 will be 2027 or not soon.

Marathon, Saros & Kena also get added to the list. Although wouldn't be surprised if Kena is delayed to spring 2027 but I'd actually love for it to arrive in December there's a big gap this year for a family adventure game on PlayStation this holiday

Don't forget they still have SGF, the September SoP, and TGA to have announcements. There's plenty of time left for Sony to make announcements lol. Schreier has essentially confirmed GoW:L is a 2027 release.

You make it sound like this was some big woke move by the game. This isn't about replacing Kratos or erasing male protagonists, this is just Fey's own story. One that happens concurrently with GoW 2018, no less.

An established character from 2018 who we finally get to see in action. Kratos' loving wife, not some replacement. New worlds, new characters, connections to Kratos and Atreus, I am excited.

The only way this may suck is if you really just want more Kratos, because making this game obviously is delaying the making of the next Kratos game. Doesn't really bother me, but I can see that.

Doesnt look woke. Just very uninteresting to me. It would be like playing as Atreus in a new game. I dont care about his story either.

Seems like a lot of people are digging it though, so Im sure it will be successful. Maybe I will get on board whenever they show more, but for right now, it might be my first skip for a God Of War game.

We've seen so much of Kratos and I feel like his emotional climax has passed, people are craving something new both in terms of gameplay feel but also narratively.

Laufey looks to be going very hard in the high fantasy, mythology direction. We can't care about her yet as we literally don't know her, but this story arc blows the doors wide open for tons of new crazy shit that may be very exciting. And Kratos is clearly remaining a notable part of the story

Of course, each to their own.

Sony in their 2020 PS5 reveal event announced the following:

Horizon Forbidden West, Spiderman Miles Morales, Gran Turismo 7, Sackboy a Big Adventure, Returnal, Demon Souls, Ratchet Rift Apart and Destruction Allstars. 8 first party titles most of which launched within a year.

I'm really hoping we get a big PS6 show next year... Sony have been disappointing me for too long lol.
