Forums - Sales - PS5 Ships 93.7 Million Units as of March 2026

Fully expecting by industry analysts to write some good ol' doom n gloom articles about the "future of console gaming" in the next fiscal quarter.

Ouch that's significantly worse than expected. It's seemingly sold a lot less than the PS4 did in 2019 Jan-March and that's before the big price increase. They still have GTA 6 but other than that sales seem like they won't be good any more going forward thanks to that price increase. With this it no longer has any shot of outselling the PS4 if the PS6 comes out next year.

Nintendo just announced a price hike, of course it would be highlighted...

Ah, ok then... So why I cant find similar articles when that happened with other systems a few other times before?

Tbf, I don't think it matters to know at which increase they decided it'd be appropriate to post the article.

Moreso the fact, it's a foreseeable conclusion it would happen lol

Because you never tried to search, because that wouldn't help your usual Nintendo victimism.

After PS5 price hike this year:

Before PS5 price hike:

My biggest problem was with the execution, on a first glance you can think this a Nintendo Switch only situation by the way they presented the article

@BraLoD In my defence I search "price hike gaming" on Google news and trimmed the first 3 pages but couldnt find anything as significant as posing a concern for the future in console gaming and Verge, afaik, is way more influent than these sites that you posted

The 1.5 million the PS5 shipped this quarter is 1.3 million down year over year (2.8 million).

It is also 1.1 million down on PS4's equivalent quarter (2.6 million). After 22 quarters the PS5 has shipped 93.7million versus 97.0 million shipped for PS4. This means launch aligned the PS5 trails the PS4 by 3.3 million units.

Eurogamer is huge, Digital Foundry was once associated with it.

Also, it's pretty obvious you'll only find recent articles that just got out when you search for similar terms, that's how those search engines work.

Write the year and month of what you want to see inside " " so you can make sure older news will not be immediatly discarded in favor of current news, which they want people to click into.
