All niche, core gamer titles will quickly sell more on Switch 2 than Switch 1, Metroid mostly sells to established Metroid fans and they are the ones most likely to move to a new system fast.
Its mostly casual, mass market games that can sell more on Switch 1 vs Switch 2.
Aren't digital Switch 2 Editions counted as Switch 1 sales? In that case, it could be hard to tell, but you'd think Switch 1 would have the advantage because I imagine more people will buy digital than physical.
In my case, I actually got it through the voucher program and then got the upgrade pack pre-ordered, so mine would count as a Switch 1 sale even though when I will play it entirely as a Switch 2 game.
People are gonna surprised when it reveals most sales are coming from the Switch 1 version ...
Because most people will simply take the upgrade path because the boxart for the NS2 version is just not good.
But yes, after it's initial holiday sales. Expect most of it to come from the NS2 version.

I think you’re overemphasizing physical sales with this. It’s a digital gaming landscape these days. Not saying that people don’t buy physical at all, but even of the number of physical buyers how many are actually going to care what the box art looks like. That’s Twitter weighing heavily on the conversation.

You do understand the Switch core demographic supports more heavily physical games though right ? (with stats from Nintendo financials proving it)
Of course, people will prefer the visually more seamless look of one boxart over the other one. Aesthetic bias n all. Upgrade path will do the heavy lifting here I expect.

I say S2 because core gamers are the ones who buy Metroid, and the bulk of most early console sales (first year) are from core gamers.

Are figures foing to be readily available for us to analyze this later? I’m genuinely curious and the discourse around this subject would be illuminated greatly if we could get a few samples. Metroid Prime 4 seems like a perfect place to begin seeing how this shakes down.

I completely agree. I'm morbidly curious to see the results and if we change can determine changing habits or not during the fiscal release next year for the holiday quarter.
The sad thing is ... Not coming before next year 😭

Switch 2 because it is selling quickly and Metroid is for a more "core" audience.
