Forums - Gaming - Xbox is dead in france

Everything Xbox related is going digital and platform agnostic so its not surprising.

Feels like Microsoft has been trying to get out of the console market for years now. I'm surprised they've held on this long.

Where is Xbox ?

Xbox is dead. They have a section, but Fnac sections are like this : the biggest section is Nintendo, then PlayStation, and Xbox has a section with only controllers, maybe 1 or 2 consoles, and that’s it. The section is hidden, it’s all the way to the left and really small.

Atleast your biggest retailer stores, still have them.
I'm not kidding, when I say, I could walk into a Merlin/expert/Power/El-gigant/ ect store... and there would be like nothing Xbox at all (denmark).

You go to the websites for the stores, even there its hard to find xbox consoles.
I checked once again, back when the news broke about Costco removing consoles in the US/Canada.

All gaming in stores is getting smaller because people buy everything online and download digitally more and more, but yes.
I don't think Xbox even wants to come back as a huge console pusher, they have decided on a different business plan years ago.

Yep, I also decided to not date super models a few years ago. Really glad I made that decision.

As a fellow European, I think Microsoft has treated non-English countries awful for years and Xbox was always doomed to fail here because of this.

For a microcosm look at the problem, you don't have to look an further than the Foorza community. For example:

For years Microsoft farmed out it translations not to human translators, but to AI and machine translators and the result of that was text in games that was stupid.

This was such a wide spread problem, there was no way Microsoft was unaware of it:

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

Indeed and naturally, them going after their marketing, communications and HQs in different euro countries was just the nail in the coffin for their presence over there in the end.

Honestly, that makes it just surprising as to how they even dare to sell their hardware over there in some places despite such the non-existent treatment.

Let's just say that I get your point, but I'd like to remind you that there's a bunch of European countries that almost never get games translated, and most of us are probably happy that way.
