It would be too much for Switch 1 hardware

Ok, but what they showed was the Switch 2 version of the game. Like... if this is how it looks on Switch 2, I'm terrified of how will it look on Switch 1

It's a Switch 1 game though. Switch 2 version is just beefed up superficial stuff (frame rate, resolution, probably textures). It's just a Switch 1 game ported over to Switch 2 because it took so many years to get the game ready and Switch 2 came out in the meantime haha. It's not a next gen game. So if you're saying the more open world on the bike looks too empty, well it's cuz it's not a next gen game. Everything has gotta run well on the system they developed the game for - the Switch 1.

Performance mode (120fps) was confirmed when they announced the Switch 2 version back in April and they have shown gameplay of it. Performance mode will be 1080p/120FPS while docked, 720p/120FPS on handheld.

Sweet, thanks for the info and link.

Pretty sure, that people who played the opening demo at Switch 2 gaming events already experienced the 120fps mode.

Beaten to it, but the Switch 1 is the lead platform, it's been developed as a Switch 1 game since 2019, the next gen version seems to be pretty much just a res + framerate boost and maybe higher res textures.

If you plan on playing it on Switch 1, I imagine you'll still get a good experience. Where do you plan to play?

Is it too much to ask for etecoons to be in the Prime series already? How cool would it be to see one of those little guys riding with Samus on the back of her motorbike?! Yeah, that’s a pretty niche fantasy, I’ll admit.

Anyway, I’m so stoked to finally have a countdown for this game. It’s been so long coming. Please sell well! Please sell well! Metroid Prime 5, exclusive to Switch 2, needs to be greenlit by February 2026. Let’s go Metroid fans and Metroid-curious fans. Let’s show Nintendo that this title is a 5 million seller!

I might just buy it day one. Just for you.

I do hate the motorcycle though. Making Metroid open world just seems wrong. Would be better if we could fly Samus' ship. I like getting lost in a massive labyrinth.

Also, this is my 12,000 post. :)

To be fair, we don't know yet if it's open world.

A lot of linear games have large areas, but aren't really "open world", like say the numbered Xenoblade games, Uncharted 4/TLOU2, Nier Automata, etc.

The labyrinths will almost certainly still be there, it's just now maybe instead of riding an elevator to get from the forest to the snow area, you drive through a wide linear space with enemies and such.

Samus ridding a hog is like Mario packing an uzi. It's just... wrong.

But why is it weird? Why can't Samus ride a motorcycle? I've played every game in the series and I honestly don't see the problem. Sure, it's the first time we get a controllable vehicle. But why is that a bad thing?

Samus always gained additional freedom of mobility through additions to her suit, opening up new areas.

Samus was the vehicle.

As someone who played Metroid since the very first game on NES. The bike is awesome. People need to chill the fuck out. This is the same type of silly freakouts I have seen since people lost their minds because Sonic gained green eyes.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Is the original team working on this game?
