Over the last twenty years, Nintendo's Tokyo team have produced many beloved and acclaimed games, most recently Donkey Kong Bananza.

Galaxy 2. I think its the best balance of the more linear style games (3D World) and the exploratory. (DK Bananza)

Also top notch level design and gravity is fun.

For me,

Galaxy 2
Odyssey
3D World
Galaxy
Bananza
3D Land
Jungle Beat

Captain Toad

Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite. Just filled with new and unique gameplay. Some of the gameplay mechanics could be its own entire game and in SMG is just used in a couple of levels like its not a big deal. Just a very impressive game on many levels.

I voted Super Mario Galaxy 2. While the story pales in comparison to the original Galaxy, the gameplay is even more varied and surprising. It's one of the most creative, inventive games I've ever played.

Overall, I'd rank them like this:

Super Mario Galaxy 2 > Super Mario Galaxy > Super Mario 3D World > Super Mario Odyssey > Donkey Kong Bananza > Super Mario 3D Land > Donkey Kong Jungle Beat > Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Another vote for Galaxy 2. Like others have said, it just hits the perfect sweet spot between open areas and linear segments. Galaxy is far too linear and Bananza is far too open for my tastes and Galaxy 2 also has very tight level design and platforming. Just all around fantastic game.

I don't think any game they made is bad, though. Jungle Beat or 3D Land I'd say are the worst but they're still OK.

Odyssey. There is no other game to sit so consistently in my top five all-time favorite games. [Odyssey > Galaxy 2 > Galaxy > 3DW >> DKBananza >> 3DL >> Captain Toad.]

galaxy 2 or 3d world

haven't played bananza yet. I dont have time for video games anymore unfortunately

Odyssey has elicited more joy for me than perhaps any video game and is the finest game Nintendo has made.
The music, graphics, environments, gameplay, and so on.

Galaxy was such a fresh take. The ability to jump from all sides of planetoids felt like the next step in the evolution of platformers. I think in pure impact it is the king.
... however Galaxy 2 did most things better. Would have bought the 3D all stars if it included the second installment of the galaxy games and the best game I have played from the studio.
