Forums - Gaming - Do you think GTA6 and The Witcher 4 will look as good at launch? (Poll)

GTA6 and TW4 will look as good as represented at launch

Yes. 3 18.75%

Yes and better. 1 6.25%

No. Downgraded. 11 68.75%

I'm unsure. 1 6.25%

Total:16

Rockstar said that the GTA6 trailer has gameplay in it, I refuse to believe it but then The Witcher 4's tech demo released and it looks very doable, at least with UE5. I don't need to remind anyone of the GTA6 trailer 2 but here's TW4's Unreal 5 demo on base PS5 at seemingly 60fps (frame pacing aside), do you think they is possible or will there be a downgrade? I can not find 4k so just image how good this looks past the YouTube compression, 1080p and the bit rate which is not great here and GTA6 got an upgrade in it's last demo, mind but may I also remind of Blavk Myth Wo Kong and other UE5 games, even the blur and pop on Clair Obscurs overworld map disguised as a visual technique not to menton the hair and fur in both those games on UE5...

Seeing what CP2077 looks like on a beefy PC, I don't doubt CDPR can deliver. Same when it comes to Rockstar. Seeing what they accomplished with RDR2 on 2013 tech, it would be foolish to bet against either of them. What we can expect from performance though, not so sure.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

GTA will look like that in cutscenes but I suspect average gameplay will reveal more short comings. Even if they say the trailer has gameplay that could be literally one or 2 seconds which are not quite as attractive as the rest of the trailer and it wouldn't necessarily be picked up.

But essentially yes for GTA, no for Witcher IV.

Witcher 4 tech demo is just a tech demo, and should be treated as such. The fully realised game will naturally look different as they finalise the actual content/scope and likely not hitting 60fps with Raytraycing at that quality of assets.

Yeah but on the base PS5? Notice that the areas showcased are small and closed off... even though when they unlock that camera it's pretty wild. Perhaps you're right.

Edit: Idk, you and Otter make great points. It looks very advanced, these are noticeable gen leaps but Kojima said noticeable gen leaps are out of the question cause of PS5 hardware. Shrug.

Eurogamer has a 4K stream

https://www.eurogamer.net/the-witcher-4-unreal-tech-demo-was-running-on-a-standard-ps5-at-60fps-with-ray-tracing

But: CD Projekt Red confirms Witcher 4 Unreal demo showcases tech tools, doesn't represent final game

And honestly, 4K streamed downscaled to 1080p, it doesn't look that good technically (love the art direction though)

Very soft image despite being downscaled from the 4K stream

I hope to be wrong, though...

Rockstar generally has a good track record of delivering what they advertise, at least in terms of visuals. Fairly safe to assume GTA6 will follow suit.

CDPR has a pretty mixed record these days. Witcher 3 got downgraded from its big trailer and 2077 was a famous debacle at launch but eventually after years of updates it essentially delivered on its promises. I'd like to think they're learning their lesson but I'll temper my expectations. However the graphics turn out, I'd personally expect as low as an upscaled 1080p30 on PS5. Maybe the PS6 version can reach that vaunted 4k60.

Love what I see for the future of the engine, regardless. I'm curious to learn more about the updates to Chaos, particularly the cloth and flesh systems.

Not sure if they may make downgrades for visual appearance.

Least of my worry - I'm more concerned with performance.

Yeah, it's insane that they think they can get 4k 60 with that fidelity. Like, what. I hope this isn't another Cyberpunk moment where they release a piece of trash and you have to buy 10th gen to play the game solidly. I'm not concerned about performance, I think they will have 60 fps but I think it'll be a Black Myth situation where they destroy image quality and have that weird texture fluff and fuss all over the world too like in Cybperpunk on the PS4, the one where everything feels like it's made out of coloured Styrofoam.

Yup. I'll eat my wellingtons if these games release as well as they are being portrayed at that performance on base PS5.
