Forums - Nintendo - Switch 2 New Preorder Date (US + Canada)

The accessory pricing increase will hurt a bit but overall the US market for the Switch 2 is saved for now. Though considering the absolutely insane tariffs are only paused things could go to shit again in just a few months. With how chaotic the US government is with stuff like this there can't be any real certainty over the next few years with things like Switch 2 pricing in the US.

Yeah exactly.

Seems like every month or so is gonna be a new round of announcing tariffs and then delaying some of them when markets crash. Only reason price of the system stayed steady is cuz most of the tariffs were delayed. No telling what tariffs will be like by summer though. Everyone in the US is going to have to have a very dynamic pricing strategy as long as this US govt economic chaos continues.

Still though, Switch 2 price was already crazy, and now all the already overpriced peripherals just went up another $5 when everyone is already pissed about the high prices. Luckily for Nintendo the average person probably only buys like 0 to 1 peripherals so probably more people will just be relieved the system doesn't cost $500 (yet) and the $5 extra price won't cause a big commotion.

Yeah relief that the console stayed the same should exceed that. With the PS5 now getting yet another price increase in various places I wonder if Nintendo will do that with the Switch 2 in the coming years. Price cuts getting replaced by price increases could help out the Switch 2 in its first couple years since if it might cost more down the line more people than usual might get it early

We also finally got the pricing for games in Canada ...

*Sigh* welp of course they went with a straight conversion which means DK Bananza is 99$ while MK World is ... 109$ !

I know that I'm buying them anyway because I do have the savings for it but gosh I hope retailers become much more flexible with their pricings like in Europe ...

It paints an even less flattering image considering PS5/XboSeries are still 89CAD here.

It's also CAD 700 for the MK World bundle (CAD 630 without)
I don't want to know what a pro controller is going to cost here :(

Yeah I'm waiting for the next Zelda / Mario before making up my mind. MK is not my favorite and spending CAD 730 to play DK Bananza, no deal.

The cheapest I can find it here in Norway is 130CAD.

I just hope they don't increase the prices in the other regions to further subsidize the US market.

As far as I’m aware, USA has the strongest tolerance for price hikes of any country. Why wouldn’t they just stick with price hikes in USA? (Or is there any evidence suggesting that price hikes emerge in other regions to recuperate losses in a certain region?)

We have an example just a few days ago: https://www.vgchartz.com/article/464453/ps5-price-to-increase-in-europe-australia-and-new-zealand/

Looks like we finally have a new preorder date for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the US. It will now start on April 24th. Thankfully none of the prices have gone up for the console or launch titles as of right now. Unfortunately, accessories will cost more due to "market conditions" and the article also says other adjustments of pricing may increase in the future.

https://www.polygon.com/nintendo-switch-2/553234/pre-order-date-time-trump-tariffs

That basically saying, they plan to increase the console price at some point.
So its launching at 449$, but they might increase it down the line.

This is to avoid the blow-back they would receive from going to say 499$/549$ (for bundle).

From gamestop:

If you want a Switch 2, at its current MSRP, you should try to get one ASAP, because it is likely going to cost more, at some point after launch.

Thank goodness the Switch 2 system price is unchanged!

At launch... this reads like they plan to increase it shortly after.

…but what evidence do we have to believe Sony has done this out of a motivation for recuperating losses from other regions? I’m not asking for evidence that price hikes occur, im asking about evidence for motives.
