The sega employee just said "4k" when the guy asked right? I would be wary for immediately believing that's native 4k without any kind of upscaling from a slightly lower resolution.

It would still be the best console version as PS4 is 1080p and PS4 Pro/PS5 never received a patch.

Having said that native 4k wouldn't be completely unbelievable, impressive but I'd wait for analysis or confirmation it's not upscaling from 1440p/1800p or something before believing any game that says "4k" without specifying native explicitly.

It's happened a lot with games this generation.

When I played it on PC I used a 1660 Ti and couldn't maintain 60 with 4k and that GPU is quite a bit better than a Series S.

At the end of the day most people won't notice a big difference between upscaled 4k and native 4k.

No, this information isn't from some random "Sega Employee". Makoto Suzuki from RGG Studios, the direct of the game, is the one says the games runs in 4k at 60fps on Switch 2.

"Suzuki also commented that 4K resolution is supported, assuming the console is connected to an applicable monitor."

4k resolution support does not necessarily equal native 4k. It could be using upscaling. Unless they have explicitly said it's "native 4k" then it shouldn't be automatically assumed it is. Many games have been advertised as 4k on ps5/xsx but are using upscaling/dynamic resolution.

I'm just saying the OP says "Native" when I haven't yet seen Sega use the word "Native" anywhere yet. Whether it is or isn't will be clarified eventually.

Crossing my fingers that Doom The Dark Ages comes to Switch 2, it would be so fitting after the key role Doom played on Switch 1.

I'm not sure 60fps would be doable as its a pretty demanding game, but I'd be fine with a stable 30, I enjoyed 2016 and Eternal on Switch at 30.

Honestly any game which has 60fps as the base on PS5/SX automatically puts itself in a good position of having a strong 30fps/HD port on Switch 2.

While docked the Switch 2 should have no real problem running anything the Series S can with just a little work. The bigger question right now is how it holds up for handheld play in demanding titles. If the datamined clock speeds are accurate it almost halves the GPU speed when undocked. With Series S already dropping below 1080p30 in certain titles it'll be interesting to see what happens there. it shouldn't be a huge obstacle but we don't want to see resolutions dropping too low on handheld play on a massive 7.9" 1080p screen. Hopefully DLSS is used to good effect.

I think 540p was detected in Cyberpunk which I think is decent enough with DLSS.

The big blocker is CPU heavy games, Dragons Dogma 2 comes to mind.

You can check the original Famitusu interview. There is no mention of upscaling moreover, we are talking about a remaster of a PS3 game. This isn't a Dragon Engine title like Yakuza Kiwami 2 or Yakuza 6. If those were 4K, 60fps then upscaling would clearly be involved.

I'm not big on first person views, generally. But I find like Cyberpunk looks so interesting it might not even matter. I want to play that game.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

According to DF's pixel counts, Yakuza 0: DC actually runs at 1080p60 on gameplay with 4K60 cutscenes on the Switch 2. It seems more like an improved take on the PS4 port than a new game version.

Yes Digital Foundry new video talks about Yakuza 0 at 11:18. https://youtu.be/EZZAr1c0Wqg?si=sDrjTauX7N5FvAF8

From the footage they've seen so far.

Metroid = Native 4K 60
Zelda = 1440p60
Yakuza = 1080p60 in gameplay, 4k in cutscenes.

I just saw that video and was about post it myself. You were right and I was wrong. I'm man enough to admit fault.

I think it's gonna be funny how a lot of these developers suddenly will be able to optimize their games for the Switch 2 when they couldn't for the Xbox Series S. Despite the Switch 2 being weaker. I'm calling it.
Capcom is bringing SF6 and Kunitsu-Gami to Switch 2. I hope they bring more games that couldn't run on Switch to Switch 2. I hope to see RE2 Remake, RE4 Remake, Monster Hunter World (maybe Wilds and a Switch 2 Edition for Rise), and DMC 5.
Koei Tecmo was the Switch's biggest 3rd Party supporter, so I hope to see more games from them.
