Why is there no opinion for "No"? I mean GTAV was no graphical benchmark when it launched. Neither on consoles nor on PC!

GTA5 and RDR2 has details like no other game, on the latter the game still holds up with any modern release on the PS4 PRO and Xbox One X which is (close to) ten year old tech.

I'll change the title of the thread to best looking, detailed game.

Corrected that for you. Considering the time when the game released (2013) it was a late Gen 7 game. Uncharted 3, Gears Of War 3, GT5, Forza Horizon 3 looked better! There is absolutly no way to call GTA V a graphical benchmark unless you are a GTA (for some strange reason i am not allowed to say it- George Orwell's 1984 greetings😉).

Heck GTA V was not even in the Top 10!

Like I said. RDR2 shows the lengths R* will go to these days.

Mafia 3 & Marvel 1943 might give it competition in the next year alone (although Marvel will probs be delayed).

I haven't played Hellblade but from what I've seen it's narrowness & lack of interactivity makes GT6 look the more impressive technical feat

GTA5 was probably the best looking open world game of its generation, it's just that as a consequence of being open world it had to spread out its rendering over a larger area and so each component couldn't be as high fidelity as the best looking linear games.

For instance, in terms of detail I'd say something like TLOU topped it, but that was due to it not having to handle as large a world.

Honestly, judging by the GTA VI trailer, nothing really stood out for me. It looks good, really, but there are definitely better looking things by now.

This, for example:

Yes. Rocktar has their style in games. No they really look nice, but calling GTA VI a "graphical benchmark" is more of GTA fan*fantasies than reality, especially if we look at games like Hellblade... I have a dark memory of people calling COD MW2 a "benchmark" back in 2009 when Uncharted 2 came wich was considered the best graphics a game ever had across all plattforms!! Graphics like that where never seen before!

Comparing MW2 to UC2 is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison really, as MW2 has to run at twice the framerate, leaving it just half as much processing time per frame, plus it had to run across 360, PS3, and PC, while UC2 had the luxury of being tailored to the hardware of a single platform and being 30fps.

Why apples and oranges? MW2 was never considered a graphical benchmark outside of the COD FB cosmos. Both where games released in 2009. Of course you can compare them. Its like saying we can't compare GOY to ACS because the former is exclusive. Fact is UC2 was a graphical benchmark that even made the PC fanbase extremly jalous!!😎

Never said you can't compare them, it's just not a like for like comparison for the reason I mentioned. UC2 was the best looking game on consoles at the time, but on PC Crysis from two years prior looked better.

A friend played Crysis on a 5000$ PC. I saw it and i liked UC2's graphics better. Its just some deluded PCboys claiming everyone crazy who does bot like Crysis graphics. There is a reason UC2 won the best graphics awards. And i am not a PS Fanboy.
