If its lower than a 7 out of 10... chances are I'm not even playing it... much less beating it lmao.

I’m currently having a lot of fun playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure which VGC ranks as a 6. The moral of the story here is that you decide what rating a game has and if you are enjoying your time with it, then play it. I see so many threads on this site with people either questioning their gaming choices (and asking for validation) or the gaming choices of other people. I guess you can leave the school yard but the school yard never leaves you.
I have beaten plenty of games that most would consider "average". And some of them I've enjoyed them more than many games that are considered "masterpieces".
This gen, from the top of my head:
- Reynatis
- Greak: Memories of Azure
- Evergate
- Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes
- Little Town Hero
I didn't use to, but now I do. Recently, I beat The Lion King and Jurassic Park on Genesis. But are mediocre control-wise, but still fun experiences. I feel like opening up the pallet beyond the Sonic 2's and Super Metroids helps you appreciate the best games even more. It also expands your library and gives you more to play.
I tend to drop mediocre/average games quite quickly. My time is best spent enjoying games.
If the game is a true 5/10, it won't continue to be played.
Now I might have a different scale than most. For example most JRPGs for me are 9 or 10 out of 10. So for me an average mediocre JRPG is often still a 7/10. A 5/10 would have to be truly bad in many ways like FFXIII.
Occasionally, yes. The first Kingdom Hearts comes to mind as possibly the most recent example, but I wanted to know what it's about and get to the next game(s) in the series, and I typically want to play the games of each series in order. I'm sure the game was great 20+ years ago, but it really had some poor design choices (and camera, which, I guess, isn't that surprising for such an old game).

Yeah. You have a different scale cause things get poor below 5, you could say 5 is the boundary between good from bad or a game that has equal bad parts to good aspects that balance out while 4 is poor, 3 is bad, 2 is terrible and 1 is broken and unplayable or something along those lines. People have shown they hate the below7/10 being bad to 10/10 scaling.
