i don’t have a lot of gaming time. Why throw it away on an average game? Unless it is a game that is infamously bad (e.g. Bubsy 3D), I don’t finish anything lower than 7/10.

How did Stellar Blade go for you?

Also, I get your point, no point wasting time, alas it is also hard to justify wasting money. I wish demos were still an industry standard or the trial system from PS premium was a standardised at two hours of time and available to all for free. Even though that two hours wouldn't be enough for some genres but it would give a general idea. Aggregate scores are clearly becoming less and less accurate as the years go by, in my experience leading to wasted money.

I hardly ever beat games anymore. They get boring midway through.

Plus I mostly play ever green games nowadays like GT7, Puzzling Places, Synthriders.

The last game I beat was Lego Horizon, however without couch co-op I wouldn't have even started it. Decent fun in co-op, yet mostly playing it since Astrobot was only single player. Astrobot is the last game I actually beat. (minus 2 challenges)

In VR Subside is the last game I played to the end, before that RE8, RE4 and some smaller VR games. Yet I abandoned more halfway through than finish them, so no, I don't beat average/mediocre games (anymore). When the choice is between some more Metro Awakening or GT7, I rather go for a few laps around the track instead of more samey corridors.

It's a complicated scale based on difficulty, the story, the length, etc.
If a game that I feel so far is around a 7/10 or lower and it's a long game, I'm checking out. There are too many games to play out there to spend dozens of hours on a decent at best game.
If I really like the story (Jedi: Fallen Order) but do not like a good deal of the gameplay, I'll stick it out if it's not too long or difficult.
If it's a meh game with some easy trophies/achievements that can be done in 2 hours or under, I'll usually stick it out.
Persona 5 Royal is one of my favorite games ever. But if it's not hooking someone after the first dungeon or two, abandon it. It's a 100+hour game on most difficulties and you have better things to do with your time than spend that long on a game you think is decent at best.

Yes, not always, but most of the time I will, because I already bought the game and im kind of a completionist, so I dont like the feeling of leaving things unfinished.

Sometimes - not often - a game i consider mediocre ended up being pretty satisfying in the second half, so it feels worthy to having given it a shot.

Same.

I feel compelled to finish a game, even if it's mediocre. It's the completionist in me.

Also, games can get better or worse as you go. If I had given up on Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin after a few hours, when it was still clunky and tedious, I would have missed out on one of my favorite games of all time.

Yes I finished ff16 and that for me wa very mediocre

Of course. Not every game needs to be great to be enjoyable. The Last few games I beat that I would consider "mediocre" would be Evil West, Donut County, Scorn, Outriders, and Battlefield Hardline to name a few. If I'm really not feeling a game, I just don't finish it. One great thing about Game Pass is not feeling obligated to finish a game I don't like. If I finish a "mediocre" game, there was something I found captivating about it.

I've beaten games other have considered average that I've enjoyed. But a game that I found average I'm less likely to beat.

Just done that last month. Exactly the reason I made this thread. I've never come across a game so absolutely average.

If it's for a franchise that I love, I'll typically beat it unless it's just really bad lol
