It’s not really a yes or no answer. It will be up to the individual publishers whether they want to provide a frame rate or resolution boost.

For Nintendo games I think it will be a mixed bag where less popular games get nothing, more popular games get either a simple free boost or a more comprehensive paid ’remaster’.

I'm not expecting it to be universal for boosting, it's not universal on Xbox or PlayStation.

The option just has to be there to be satisfactory backwards compatibility in my mind. Low resolution Zelda and Xenoblade Chronicles that don't even have locked 30 FPS is not appealing to deal with for yet another generation. Princess Peach Showtime doesn't even have locked 30 FPS, but that seems like a lack of optimization.

That's funny, I've never once had a thought complaining about Zelda being low resolution or running slow on Switch. Maybe the occasional small slowdown but that's it, certainly nothing to say "not appealing to deal with for yet another generation" haha

To me it's evident, most of it will come from the devs themselves and if Nintendo mandates it for their own catalog. Maybe their biggest games will get improvments but honestly, I'm not expecting anything else appart some games being more stable with their resolutions and FPS since they are uncapped.

Basically, we might get actual Xenoblade trilogy running at the max settings and with stable framerate which will already make the upgrade noticeable.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet really needs the FPS boost.

Scarlet and Violet really need the better developer boost, along with the -more time for quality and bug testing boosts as well.

Ah, I took for granted the fps/resolution would hit the available ceiling but it seems it’s not always the case.

I can live without boosted BC for Switch 2 personally. I don't buy new consoles to play older games.

Although I would be annoyed if Nintendo doesn't implement their version of trophies/achievements lol.

Boosted games are more likely than an achievements system. Nintendo has said a few times they don't have plans for them. Some article I can't find right now (someone let me know if they can) has Nintendo saying they have no plans for achievements because achievements don't solve any problems.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 161 million (was 73 million, then 96 million, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million, then 156 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 40 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million. then 48 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

This is what I'm waiting to see.

Holding off on playing 9th gen.

If there's no changes, I'll just start playing it on my Switch.

I'm currently planning to wait until I get Switch 2 to play Xenoblade Chronicles X. If boosts are supported, that seems like an obvious game. Even a tiny boost is better than nothing. I have a lot of game consoles and games to play that I can wait months if not a year over X launches to play it.
