Yes. Review codes weren't sent before the game's release, so the early reviews must have come from skilled players and players who enjoyed the game so much they couldn't stop playing. |
Nah. There was a mod out for reducing the difficulty.

Borderlands 4 currently sitting at 85 opencritic with 32 reviews, above our highest prediction of 83 from 3 people. It's not quite on Borderlands 2 tier (about 90 average), but if 85 holds it will be the 2nd highest reviewed game in the series, above 1 (about 83 average), 3 (81 average), Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (78 average), and Pre-Sequel (around 76 average).

I made a post when the first reviews dropped, but forgot to add a score to the first post. I generally don't update those scores continously anymore though.

First reviews are in for Borderlands 4 and it's sitting suprisingly pretty at 85 with 35 reviews, favoring our highest predictions of 83 by @DroidKnight @LegitHyperbole and @Koragg.

Glad I wasn't peer pressured into scoring Borderlands low. Opted to not score the game and retain a higher average at the cost of a lower total. Cowardly but efficient lol.

I’m doing absolutely atrocious in here 😂

Reviewer broke Silent Hill f review embargo early, gave it a 9.5/10. Anybody thinking about adjusting their score? Every game will have a few high scores, so this doesn’t mean much tbh. Though I might bump my prediction up to 85…just in case.
We can't adjust our prediction after a review drops, even if it's one (can we?).
It's been one of my most anticipated games for years, as a fan of both Silent Hill and especially Ryukishi07. I'd be happy if it scores much higher than I predicted.

I’m not sure one outlet provides much insight as to where the game will land. For instance, I’m pretty sure games like Sonic ‘06 even received in the 80s by an outlet or two. (Or rather, pick any game that was either super acclaimed or very poorly recieved, I’m sure you can find a low or high score (resp.) for each.) You run the risk of placing too much or too little faith in a single review. It’s gamble, not much of an unfair advantage.
I’d say up until the embargo is lifted. Famitsu, for instance, releases reviews earlier than all other publications, yet we are still able to adjust scores even after the fact.
