Forums - Sony Discussion - Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet trailer is getting "mixed" reactions on Youtube

What do you think of the Intergalactic trailer?

I like what I see 23 31.51%

I need to see more 30 41.10%

I don't like it 20 27.40%

Total:73

Interesting setting and aesthetic with very high detail. With that said, trailer didn't do much for me. Need to see more, but I'm sure it will turn out good considering ND reputation. I'm not surprised the anti woke crowd is flexing their lack of critical thinking skills once again.

Not a fan of the main character being bald.....especially since its a female character (prefer hair).

Though I love the Retro feel to it, the callout to Cowboy Bebop/Akira and I'm just a huge fan of anything Sci-Fi.

Just hope the game ends up good.

A friend got upset because I called it "Star Citizen" killer lmao.

Edit: Need to see more of the game though, I dont mind it being more action oriented.

I'm honestly really interested in it. ND makes good games, and I love the 80s retro-futurism aesthetic. I mean, it has a totally rad space Porsche with a multi-CD player than has the Pet Shop Boys in the rotation. What more could you ask for? Hopefully we see some gameplay in the not too distant future, but the setting, art style, and general atmosphere make it seem quite promising.

As for the "controversy" over it, from what I've seen most of the complaints are just the usual pack of entitled, whiny, man-baby chuds who think tossing out "woke" and "DEI" every five seconds and calling ND's head "Cuckmann" makes them clever. Seems they're just angry that the game has a woman, with a shaved head no less, as the protagonist. Oh, the horror. How will civilization ever survive a character archetype that's been around for decades? *rolls eyes* These basement-dwellers need to get a life. Or "touch grass," as the kids say today.

There's not that much to go on yet but I am definitely interested in just how technically advanced Naughty Dog's first original PS5 production will be. Should be one of the top achievements on the console like TLOU 2 was for the PS4.

Let me guess. People are hammering that dislike button because the game stars a female protagonist who doesn't look like she walked out of a fashion catalog? Gamers really do have a type.. Mine is Eve from Stellar Blade, but hey, we can’t all get what we want.

Said character is probably 'modeled' by a model too. Same people who decided Aloy wasn't attractive, meanwhile the model she is based on is well out of their league.

I believe that 100%, but why oh why do the developers do this? lol

As for me... Well, the art looks superb, but I'm still not convinced. I need to see gameplay and more of the story... But so far it looks a bit... I don't know, generic...

I didn't like the trailer or the main character design, specially that design. I've played games before where I don't like the look of the protagonist but it certainly isn't helping me get hyped.

Still, I loved TLOU and TLOU2 so I'll still watch any upcoming footage and I hope they change my mind.

I loved what I saw! Starfield is a generic sci-fi game. This looks like something else. The writing quality here is in an entirely different league and the whole ambience (together with the sheer strength of the Naughty Dog brand) convinces me that this will be a game not beholden to genre cliches. Good enough for me to already be very intrigued anyway. I am, of course, looking forward to more detail, especially concerning the actual game play here, but of course it's just an announcement trailer. The only thing that worries me at all about Intergalactic so far is the inclusion of a subtitle. That's typically something you do when you're intent on setting up a franchise rather than on building a game to stand on its own merits and I hope that's not the case. I'm of the view that sequels should be earned.

Developers do what? One is a real life photo of a model taken where she has makeup and is a specific pose vs a character in a video game in a specific pose and angle the game allows to make a point, presumably not made by the devs.

Meanwhile, Aloy:

Hmm, pie.

Meanwhile, Aloy:

If I'm being honest I don't really know what point the comparison images in Deskpro's post are making anyway, they don't look that much different to me, Lol. You can see clearly the same facial structure, the only differences I can spot are Aloy's cheeks are more flush red which makes sense in the context of the game (being outside a lot), Aloy has a different hairstyle and Aloy's hairstyle is giving us a wider view of her face, alongside her open mouth expression which elongates her face vertically just a tad whilst the model has a closed mouth and isn't really doing any pronounced expression and likely has makeup on and/or digitally altered slightly.

There are always comparisons between videogame characters taken in intentionally awkward poses or pulling silly faces compared to the models photo which are often taken in a professional setting and digitally edited on top of the makeup they're already wearing. We always talk about how Instagram is setting a dangerous example for young children about beauty standards because people will only post the most perfect looking photos so you'd think people would understand the world of lighting, digitally edited, makeup, etc. But people still do the "Here's a single awkward shot from a videogame character compared to a professionally taken and digitally edited photo of the real person" Lol. I wonder how many photos it took for that model to get that shot? Likewise I wonder how many photos these people took to intentionally get these characters in a "negative" view.

Aloy has been subject to these attacks in the past but I've always thought she looked fine, absolutely nowhere near to "ugly"
