Forums - Sony - Is your PS5 game timer/clock on homescreen broken?

My game ticker on ps5 homescreen...

Is accurate 3 42.86%

Is inaccurate 3 42.86%

I don't pay attention 1 14.29%

Total:7

It works accurately if I go to profile and most pkayed games then check the game from that list but on the homescreen it's wildly inaccurate and so much so that it's silly. Says I've played 96 hours of Setllar blade when the 49 hours in my profile is much more accurate to the tally of 48 hours I've kept track myself. I booted up Dead Space remake and exited the game after 20 minutes and it says I've played 49 minutes so it's not counting AFK time or anything like that. Perhaps it counts the time you leave the homescreen page running...

Is this an issue for others and why us it SO particularly off to double the game time?

It screwed the pooch for me a lot on Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden. P3P has over 64 hours in the in-game counter but only in the 30s on PS5. P4G has over 50 hours in game but in the 20s on PS5. Persona 3 Reload didn't record the hours for the first few but then it did so it's a few hours behind. Other than that, it's accurate for most games.

The only thing that's broken on mine, and has been since I got it, is the internet dropping all by itself. I literally had to dock the internet on/off option so I could quickly turn it off and back on again (the only way to temporarily "fix" it). I figured it would eventually get resolved via an update... but no. Still happening. And it isn't just me, either. One Google search, and you'll see it's a thing. It's basically the new DRE.

Its accurate for the most part but I noticed if you play offline, it doesnt count the hours.

GTA5 for me is 1 hour off because I played GTA5 when the outage occurred a few weeks back.

Oh yeah, it's highly inaccurate for most of my games.

It says I played Horizon FW for 170 hours. It's a good game, but that's not right.
I do leave games paused a lot... but 170 hours?

Lately none of my games have had the quick start option, where you can load straight in without having to go through the starting credits. I wonder if it's broken, or if the games I've been playing recently simply haven't implemented that.

Your PS5 is faulty. Send it to me

Interesting, seems to be a bug for others and accurate for some. I can't understand why it's adding so much time. It added 20 hours to my Cyberpunk time which I didn't even spend 10 hours in checking out the patch. Perhaps it tool from the save file that I loaded but doesn't explain Stellar blade, the clock is running twice the speed it should be, if I spend an hour it adds 2. Only way to get the accurate count is to go into the list and find it there, with that and tracking it across many games since I got the PS5 while keeping my own time I'm very confident in the clock on the list of most played games, it's accurate 95% of the time with just a few blunders where it has cut off some games and split them into different lists, I'd reckon where they were updated like TW3 which was heavily updated and broke saves in it's first two months.

Lol, it loves the 48 minute mark, I've seen it a lot and now I know why, I loaded into Remnant 2 to see the trophy list and quickly exited, apparently I played for 48 minute shut lost all memory of doing so.
