eh…i wouldn’t read that deeply into my response to Courage. Seems he understood the light-heartedness of my remark. But yeah, sounds like CtCD only had like maybe 100hr to play this year? That sounds pretty consistent with how much the average American gamer will be able to play in a given year, especially in this economy lol.

100 hours a year... average gamer...Economy...Noooooo. Not when there is free shit like Marvel Rivals and The Last decendant among so many others. The average gamer is putting WAY more in than 100 hours. And it doesn't matter about the economy, gamers are pretty much drug addicts and the economy doesn't effect the sale of drugs, we seen in the last recession that it doesn't hurt the game industry all that much. Here's the first stats I pulled up, parse this if you please and find out that's you're off by hundreds of hours https://www.statista.com/statistics/202839/time-spent-playing-games-by-social-gamers-in-the-us/. I thought I wad a casual last year with 700 hours and totally hardcore this year with 1200 hours but nope, turns out I went from casual to barely more than average.

"in this economy" referring to the fact that ppl are too busy juggling five (exaggeration) different jobs, or raising children, to be able to play more than 100hr/yr...tho i understand the confusion. I def should've been a bit more explicit. My bad.

@trasharmedsister12 Can you please make a 2025 thread soon. 🙏

I will on January 1st :)

My list is probably complete for the year. Interesting stat for myself. Since I've started tracking this stuff for myself in 2018, I've completed 19-21 games every year except 2020 (somehow got up to 35 that year). Kinda neat to understand my play-rate so I can be more selective in the ~20 games I'll play in any given year.

Definitely does help to keep track, it's like an overall game to see how many you can complete, what time you can put in and how many platinums you can obtain. It's gamifying, gaming. Hot 24 completions of some very long games, I hope to beat this in 2025. The tough thing now though, is since I ain't going to make the games I'm playing in time before the 1st, do they count as completions in the new year when most of the time was put in prior to that date. Like 35 hours in Rebirth, that's half the game in 2024. I guess all one can do is mark them as completed in 2025.

That's how I treat it typically. Most of my second Elden Ring completion in 2024 happened in 2023. Meanwhile I'm about 25 hours into FF7 Remake but there's no chance I'm finishing it before the end of the year so it will likely be my first 2025 completion.

Yeah, makes sense. At the end of the year there will be the same period where we're in the middle of a game/s so I suppose that'll make up for the disparity.

Hello and happy new year everybody! Most of you know how this works by now, but if not here's my list to keep track of all I'm currently working on and what I've completed this year. Feel free to only post once and edit your list or post new/updated versions of your list in separate posts! Happy Gaming!

I've decided to clean up my queue and "started but not actively playing" lists to start off 2024 and curate things as I feel like playing them.

I'm pretty sure I'll see a bigger focus on indies and backlog this year. I'm finding the length of AAA games too long and the appeal to be far lower than in the past.

---

Games I've finished in 2024:

  1. Elden Ring (PC/Deck) - Feb. 19, 2024
  2. Inscryption (PC/Deck) - March 6, 2024
  3. Arcade Paradise (PC/Deck) - March 31, 2024
  4. God of War: Ragnarok (PS5) - April 13, 2024 (Still working on some of the challenges)
  5. F.E.A.R. (PC) - May 5, 2024
  6. F.E.A.R. Extraction Point (PC) - May 9, 2024
  7. Max Payne (PC) - May 15, 2024
  8. Max Payne 2 (PC) - May 17, 2024
  9. Hellblade 2 (PC) - May 23, 2024
  10. Outer Wilds (PC/Deck) - June 12, 2024
  11. Chants of Senaar (PC) - July 9, 2024
  12. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (PC) - July 22, 2024
  13. Yakuza Kiwami (PC/Deck) - July 27, 2024
  14. Demons Souls (PS5) - August 5, 2024

  20. Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PC/Deck) - December 24, 2024

Currently working on:

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PC)
  • Bloodborne + The Lost Hunters (PS4)

Started but not actively playing:

  • Hades 2 Early Access (PC/Deck) - I've done all the content available so far. Waiting on next update
  • Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (PC)
  • Final Fantasy 4 Pixel Remaster (Switch)
  • Horizon: Forbidden West (PS5)
  • Returnal (PS5)
  • Hollow Knight (Switch) - Just the final bosses and Nightmare Grimm left. I'm ignoring the boss rushes.
  • SuperHot VR (PC)
  • Sekiro (PC) - Shura ending
  • Nier: Automata (PS4)
In Queue:
  • Will add titles as the year goes on but for now, all focus on the list above.

Previous Years:

2023 | 2022 | 2021 | 2020 | 2019 | 2018

Sekiro Shura Ending is a completely legitimate ending and should be in your completed list. It's listed in the trophies as an ending on PS4...it's just a dick move, is all unless you misunderstood the promt from owl.
