Overall good sales.

What makes me sad is that Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart seems to be really low. I heard it caused a net loss of 8 million. And the game looks gorgeous.

The slide that said net loss of $8m also only said 2.2m of sales. I'm pretty sure that that particular slide was insomniac estimates pre-release for all of those titles, very old information.

The date of this data seems to have been narrowed down by other people to the last week of February 2022. So Ratchet shipped 2.7m in it's first 8 months on sale which is a good result for the series.

There's major misreporting going on because of that. Wikipedia is now calling Rift Apart a flop because of prerlease forcasts being mistake for actual sales. that's the worst part about leks. missing context resulting in misinformation

I'm surprised Sony doesn't release these sales figures more often. Why not update them more regularly the way Nintendo does. Easy bits of little hype for...honestly little loss if any.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Sony first party sales the last couple gens have really explored.
As of dec 2023-
God of war, spider man, Horizon, TLOU should be well over 25 million.
Uncharted 4- over 20 million
Miles morales, Ghost, TLOU 2, Ragnarok- over 15 million
Horizon 2, GT7, Spiderman 2- over 10 million.

Prior to the PS4 gen, the only Sony IP that sold over 10 million was Gran turismo.

Now they literally have 25 million sellers.
Phenomenal to say the least.

First party sales have been leaked due to the unfortunate Insomniac games hack. There is some very interesting sales information in here we may never have got otherwise, no pc data is included. These sales appear to be as of the last week of February 2022.

Edit: Updated the table to include numbers for each region/branch of Sony. Please note the region percentages are rounded by Sony to the nearest integer so the figures for the individual regions won't be 100% accurate, particularly for SIEJA where the difference of 1% can make a big change to the final number.

Some nice surprises here. Ratchet & Clank (2016) selling 7m, GT Sport selling 13m, Bloodborne selling 7.6m.

Interestingly digital is somewhere around 35% on average for Sony's first party games. I believe the overall assumption was that it's closer to 50% or higher. This could mean we are not going to see Sony stopping with physical any time soon.

Edit: I stand corrected. Disregard.

You can see for America that the average is around 50% and grew by 5% in one year, years ago. It has been 2 or 3 years since then so you can imagine that 50% or higher is definitely true. I can imagine for all major countries the same is true. Where it is not true is clearly Japan and Asian countries as well as probably less advanced European and Middle Eastern countries bringing the average down for SIEE region.

The region %'s are for total sales, not digital sales. It would be nice if we had that information though. If anything I'm expecting Japan to have a very high digital ratio. Physical ps5 game sales in Japan are low on Famitsu, but we can see that the % of total sales in SIEJA is similar to some PS4 games.

Oops. Guess we have no idea then. Yeah, would be really nice to have the complete picture for some countries.

Maybe someone can do some math and figure out the correlation of sales in each region vs the digital ratio and we can make a few guesstimates.

Yes it's amazing how much Sony first-party has grown since the PS3 days. Uncharted 4, TLOU Remastered, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and Spider-Man, 5 different games on PS4 from 5 different IP's that all sold around 20m just on that console.

GT Sport and Ratchet and Clank sold really well. That makes me happy.

Days Gone was a solid hit. Sold comparable to GOT and better than Death Stranding. I guess Sony wasn't encouraged by reviews.

No sales data at all for Dreams. Ouch.

GT Sport would be the 2nd best selling game in the franchise after the heavily bundled GT3. Weird that this would be the title Polyphony stopped reporting sales for the series with.
