Forums - Sales Discussion - PlayStation First Party Game Sales Leak (Data from Feb 2022)

First party sales have been leaked due to the unfortunate Insomniac games hack. There is some very interesting sales information in here we may never have got otherwise, no pc data is included. These sales appear to be as of the last week of February 2022.

Edit: Updated the table to include numbers for each region/branch of Sony. Please note the region percentages are rounded by Sony to the nearest integer so the figures for the individual regions won't be 100% accurate, particularly for SIEJA where the difference of 1% can make a big change to the final number.

Some nice surprises here. Ratchet & Clank (2016) selling 7m, GT Sport selling 13m, Bloodborne selling 7.6m.

Going to repost from the PlayStation thread:

- Gran Turismo Sport at 13M bodes well for Gran Turismo 7. I'm expecting GT7 to leg it out to 20M+ lifetime.
- Bloodborne at 7.6M+ is very surprising. PC port will easily push this into 10M+ lifetime.
- Great to see legacy franchises like the Uncharted collection at 10M and God of War 3 remaster at 5.6M
- Ratchet and Clank at 7M should make it the best selling entry in the franchise
- The Last of Us remaster at 18.6M could put it near 30M if you include the PS3 version, could reach as high as 40M - 50M with the PS5 remake

Overall good sales.

What makes me sad is that Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart seems to be really low. I heard it caused a net loss of 8 million. And the game looks gorgeous.

Ratchet was severely impacted by the PlayStation 5 shortages in 2021/2022. That's not to say it would've sold like Horizon or Ghost, but it was one of the few current gen only titles at the time.

Oooh. Nice data. Thanks!

The slide that said net loss of $8m also only said 2.2m of sales. I'm pretty sure that that particular slide was insomniac estimates pre-release for all of those titles, very old information.

The date of this data seems to have been narrowed down by other people to the last week of February 2022. So Ratchet shipped 2.7m in it's first 8 months on sale which is a good result for the series.

Yes the breakdown of regions is pretty fascinating too. Shows how racing games are much bigger in Europe (GT Sport 65% SIEE, Driveclub 72% SIEE) and then MLB... 96% SIEA lol. Detroit was relatively strong in SIEJA compared to other regions, 20%, pretty interesting. Not sure what makes that title appeal more to Japanese/Asian audiences.

I stuck with SIEA/SIEE/SIEJA etc for the table as I'm not sure which regions/countries they cover. I assume SIEA includes South America, SIEJA probably includes the rest of Asia not just Japan.

Interesting, I was surprised by the sales of days gone. It must be close to 10 million now with the pc version it's a great game much better than the last of us in my opinion

Breakdown of bundled data as of January 2020:

Days Gone: 460K units were bundles out of the 4.6M sell through
SpiderMan 2018: 1.3M units were bundles out of 8.1M sell through (NA only)
God of War: 2.1M units were bundles out of 8.0M sell through (NA only)
Gran Turismo Sport: 500K units were bundles out of 1.9M sell through (NA only)
Horizon Zero Dawn: 2.5M units were bundles out of 6.8M sell through (NA only)

Bloodborne is way higher than I expected for a game that went MIA since its DLC.

Gran Turismo still going strong.
