So glad it's 1440p, dynamic or not. From the previews, I thought it would only be a dynamic 1080p, which would be disappointing for the first game of this graphical caliber from Nintendo that isn't on rails. That means we haven't seen the limit of what Nintendo can do, especially if they start using DLSS in future games.

Yeah even though the immense gains over the course of a generation are less now than in say the PS3/360 days, the best looking games on a console still tend to come at the end of its life once engines mature and devs get the hang of min-maxing the hardware's strengths and weaknesses.

See Metroid Prime 4 on Switch 1, TLOU2 on PS4, Gears 5 on Xbox One, etc.

Many Switch 2 games would be dynamic 1080p -> 1440p if they didn't use DLSS, given that DLSS has a significant cost, especially on a power limited chip like the SW2's.

I think getting rid of aliasing is the better call even if it introduces other artifacts, though. Wish Nintendo would use DLSS instead of targeting 1440p.

Ocarina looks amazing, way better than I expected, and the 60 fps is superb. Great bit of hardware. I do think the ps5 comparisons is a bridge too far. Ocarina, amazing game, is limited in scope. Small corridors, small sections, etc. That saves a bunch of system resources for textures. Open field Hyrule, the draw distance is very much compromised, but still very accept (especially given 60 fps). Even something like Demon Souls and Rift have way better draw distance.

Also, I love the QoL and surround for Ocarina, both are massive upgrades. Overall, only complaint I have with the graphics is the shimmering/flicker of hair and objects in the background. Nintendo's avoidance of DLSS is annoying as heck.
