Visual fidelity or framerate

I prefer higher framerates 46 51.69%

I prefer better visuals 19 21.35%

Either way. I'm not picky 24 26.97%

Total:89

Only complaint I have is trying to hit native 4k on the ps5 is a waste of resources, imho. 1440p upscaled looks just as good. Use the resource savings on framerate. My preference is 60 fps but 45 locked fps isn't bad.

I been playing Elden ring like 12 hours straight today when does it get bad because so far its amazing.

You referenced the Switch's success and lack of visual fidelity as a non-issue.

I referenced the Switch's success and lack of high frame rates as a non-issue.

I am -literally- using the same logic as you are. - So don't go changing the goal post now just because I turned your logic back around onto you.

Clearly the Switch is the example where graphics and framerates don't matter... Many Switch games aren't even breaking ground on gameplay mechanics. - Mario Kart 8 is a port of the last-gen WiiU variant which is the Switch's best seller for instance.

The Playstation 5's visuals are more refined than the Playstation 4. Absolutely. - But anyone who has a clue can see where shortcuts are taken, we aren't at photo-realistic levels yet, there is so much more than can be improved.

And clearly the Playstation 5+Xbox Series X+PC are showing the example where framerates and visuals absolutely do matter, otherwise, why upgrade from last gen? It's not like they are missing out on many games. - And collectively they are a bigger market than Switch.

I'm not saying graphics don't matter i'm saying there is plenty of room for beautiful graphics to run at 60fps on current hardware. clearly current gen  can't offer  great RT with out a huge sacrifice thats just not worth it imo. I can see graphics getting much better in the future with AI helping develop games with PS6 but as of now with current gen consoles and how small the jump is 2 years they should mainly focus on gameplay.

You can check hundreds of polls online comparing graphics vs 60fps and 60fps is winning all the time by a huge margin.

But not enough hardware performance for dynamic and good looking graphics to run at 60fps.

Current Gen *can* offer Ray Tracing at 60fps, the games already exist, it will just require smart usage of it, but we need a Pro console to really start leveraging global illumination RT.

I mean we haven't seen games start to use Photon mapping yet for example... But we did see games start to use Path Tracing on 6th gen consoles. (Although only used a single light bounce.) - So Ray Tracing has been around for decades on consoles.

For me it was when I did the 20th same design catacomb and fought the cemetery shade for the 19th time.  The main quest us brilliant.  The side open world quests were repetitive as crap.  I think I put in hours.

I also thought late game felt lazy with "hey, now there is two" boss design.

Lol yeah in ER at some point you will fight the same tree boss and cat statue things and whatever over and over. Another dungeon with that carriage death trap. Everything repeats a lot but hey there is the Ganondorf fight in that game that was presented in a neat way. Watch out for the dogs from Berserk.

To be honest i felt that  with BOTW. I mean you literately have the 120 shrines of the same design and look with puzzles, and 18-20  shrine bosses test of skill or something which were a joke. then you only have  1 cool enemy   the whole game with descent move set.i was loving the game early but the  melee combat get's repetitive fast and i think 20-30 hours in becomes a walk in the park. still thought it was great game but no where near perfect. I'm still early in Elden ring but so far the game is amazing, although i do have some complaints like man these 2 bosses in the castle. especially the one with a dragon on his hand feel like a end game boss, and just too much items and upgrades like the less i'm in menus  in games the better. I imagine this will take at least 120 hours to feel like you can destroy anything using melee combat? I also think the open world riding torrent is perfect cause of how tense it is while your exploring castles and fighting bosses, while riding torrent is just awesome and just enjoying exploring the beautiful world it's a great mix.

Switch is well above 7th-generation hardware. That's pretty est by now. It's produced many games looking better than 7th generation.

Of course we know switch is more powerful then 7th gen but the jump was basically  1080p from WIIU for most Nintendo games. look at the best selling games. they are mostly Wiiu graphics at 1080p or 900p. So i would say switch is much close to 7th gen then to PS4.

It's still not accurate to say that Switch has 7th gen graphics; thanks to its GPU being a decade more advanced than PS3/360 as well as moderately more raw power, you get more modern rendering techniques in games that are built to leverage the hardware.

Yea i was talking about nintendo  games that were massive sellers. Mario kart, pokemon, Smash, BOTW, and animal crossing for the most part they were a very small step up 7th gen imo.

You're specifically picking out games that have a conservative visual style or are Wii U ports though; a system's capability is not defined by its best sellers, unless you think GTA5, COD, or FIFA are the best example of PS4's capabilities.

We were never talking about system's capability.
