$400-$450 assuming the spec bump is as good as I hope it is.

Truly feels like they're going to shoot for the 399$ price target, which I'm not gonna be upset about since we're talking maybe a 6-8 years investment in this case. Relatively cheap really.

I voted 399, but looking at prices for hardware dropping like a rock, I could see them pulling off 299 if they really wanted to. But it's Nintendo we're talking about, so even if costs get lower over the coming months, they will probably just be happy about higher margins and still sell the system for 399.

I do not see $299.99 happening at all unless the specs are weaker than a base Xbox One. I really hope it's not that underpowered.
I'll put my estimate at $349.99. If it's as powerful as a PS4 Pro or more, it would almost surely be $399.99 or more.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 156 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million, then 151 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 48 million (was 60 million, then 67 million, then 57 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

The advancement in technology in what will be over 7 years since the release of the Switch means they should still be able to offer a substantial increase in power for the $299-$349 mark. Especially in the mobile hardware space. I think the $399 price point is the most likely currently though.

I would place my bet on $400 to $450 with no game packaged in.

So this argument has been stewing quite a bit around here, so I thought I'd put up a poll to gauge the room.

Obviously we have no idea about many things:

—When the system will launch

—What the specs will be

—If there will even be a Switch 2

But all that being said, we have a bit of history to go with Nintendo, other manufacturers of home consoles, as well as the current state of the market.

So what do you think?  How much will the base line model cost? I have no reason to believe Nintendo will try a two tiered system like they did with the WiiU, but for clarity's sake I wanted to get that out there.

AMD resently announced AMD Ryzen Z1 + Z1 extreme, which are 15w-30w APUs (for thin laptops), that can reach upwards of 8.6 Tflops of grafical compute capabilities (for the Z1 extreme at abit under 30watts). (Switch is around 0.4 Tflops (400 Gflops)).  (granted this is the newest new, likely on 4nm nodes ect, and not even out yet)

So Spec wise, I'm expecting a Switch 2, to do something around that (if nintendo wanted to).
I'd love to see a Switch 2, when docked able to best a Xbox One X / PS4 pro, in terms of graphics grunt.

If they go that route, and sell it at break even points, I'd figure they would need to ask for like 400-450$.

Yes, Im expecting more than a x10 performance uplife in terms of the GPU inside the Switch 2.
That and probably also something like DLSS ontop (if its a nvidia gpu) (otherwise FSR)

Yep, by the time a "switch 2" launches (likely first in 2024), it ll be going on its 8th year.
Also the "tech" inside the Switch wasn't exactly new, even at the time of its launch.

I suspect the jump in GPU grunt, could be over a factor of 10.

We already have a pretty good idea of what the chip is (Tegra T239) and can extrapolate performance from that.

Using the same clock speeds as the current Switch from Z0mb3le at Famiboards:

Sure, I'll just do some quick clocks.

Portable
400MHz ->1.228TFLOPs
500MHz ->1.536TFLOPs
600MHz ->1.843TFLOPs

Docked
768MHz (Switch docked clock) ->2.36TFLOPs
1GHz -> 3.07TFLOPs
1.152GHz -> 3.539TFLOPs
1.3GHz -> 3.993TFLOPs
1.5GHz -> 4.6TFLOPs
1.8GHz -> 5.53TFLOPs
2GHz -> 6.14TFLOPs

Realistically, I think only the first 4 for Docked would be possible with such a big GPU, with DLSS on top, it would be a current gen console and match fidelity with expectations, would sit right between XBSS and XBSX.

Yeah, I'm with that too. Not only because a considerable jump in specs but also backwards compatibility

I see nothing other than $399
