There is literally no technical reason why they couldn't support Switch... The Xbox 360/Playstation 3 versions were supported as of December 16th 2001. - Although missing DLC over several years, but the Switch could handle them with it's increased DRAM pool and processing power.

Has anyone stated this yet?

Rockstar North (completely different from the other Rockstar devs) and Rockstar San Diego used to be 2nd party under the n64. Both of them and a feud with Nintendo.

I wasn't aware Angel Studios had a feud with Nintendo, but it is wild that at one time basically the dev studios that made Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto were Nintendo 2nd party studios basically, lol. 

Angel Studios also did one of the craziest ports in gaming history by porting the 2 CD Resident Evil 2 game to the N64 onto a 64MB cartridge with all the FMV sequences and gameplay sequences intact.

And this is a good thing, sometimes there is a sign which shows that Nintendo is still on the Good side of the History.
GTA is the thing who destroyed SEGA, in 1999 people have chosen the brutality and vulgarity of a GTA III over the wisdom and beauty of a Shenmue.
This is the shame of the video games, one of the main garbage of our culture.

It definitely didn't sell more. In the UK and US it sold worse at launch. Maybe it ended up relatively close.

Yes, my post lists this as one of the major hurdles in getting the game on Switch.

For a little more context, during the SNES era Nintendo had a dream team of third party development studios which were to be the spearhead of the N64. It was some weird elitist philosophy Nintendo had at the time (I believe from Yamauchi) that really blew back in their face when Sony was announcing things like 200 games on PlayStation when there were like 5 or 6 games on N64 total, then over 500 games on PlayStation, while N64 was seeing a trickle of games usually falling in the range of 1-3 heavily overpriced games games per month (a few months they had zero new releases). Suffice to say, it blew up in their face.

Additionally, Nintendo was very heavy handed with their Dream Team and it kind of fell apart. It’s a long and hard story for Nintendo fans who liked these devs. DMA, who had made Uniracers, was making games that followed the formula of a character who’d get into separate vehicles: they had three games for Nintendo: Space Station Silicon Valley, Body Harvest, and Grand Theft Auto. Nintendo kept trying to force them into making GTA more like an RPG, but DMA had different ideas. In the end, they pulled GTA entirely, and Space Station and Body Harvest suffered massive delays. The experience left DMA (Rockstar North) very sour on the experience.

This left a lot of bad blood, and while Nintendo was a very different company in the Iwata, Kimishima, and Furukawa eras, and its approaching three decades, there could still be a residual culture remembering that bad experience in Rockstar North.

On a different note, anyone else notice that Kimishima and Furukawa seem to enjoy frowning?

Exactly, it is almost three decades ago. If these morons are still butthurt after almost thirty years, it says a lot.

Their two games Space Station Silicon Valley and Body Harvest are not known for making any impacts whatsoever, so why should Nintendo have rolled out the red carpet. Even Grand Theft Auto only got big with the third game and it wasn't possible to see the potential back then.



Thinking that the reason is due to some 30 year old grudge is flawed imo. If they were the only ones doing it then maybe, but lots of western third party studios shun the switch. This isn't an isolated situation that can be explained by an individual companies old grudge.
