So anyway, if they update achievements this year what y’all hoping to see?? For me

- Unique animation for 100% a game like how the platinum trophy is animated on pop.
- Ability to wipe games completely, would love to revisit some games and re-achieve the 1000G would also let me try some games on GP and if I don’t like them I could wipe any achievements.
- I’ve said it before but make the pop up box squared like the notification box … please for the love of god.

Deleting any game you want from the achievements would be a great option for games you really didn't play much and just played it because it was on GP

Is it weird that I just do not care about this stuff? Like, as long as I keep getting great GamePass content, MS can put games wherever for all I care

The Activision acquisition let me suspect they also want to offer something on mobile. Not sure if they do an complete store with their non-gaming apps as well, or more a game-oriented app with achievements and all. Maybe both in parallel. But something will come.

So I don't think they will stop the Xbox console, why would they. If I assume their strategy correctly, they are trying to create the best ecosystem by being available on every device. So the console is part of it and they will not give up on it unless other console makers allow Gamepass on their systems. Steam by the way sees this similar, this is how I see Steamdeck, they are broadening the reach of their ecosystem.

Also, maybe we will see multi-device gaming experiences again. Nintendo tried something in the past, with linking Gamecube and Gameboy Advance. But think you have a full immersive experience on console or PC, but if you are commuting and play on your phone, this game adds the successes into the PC/console game as say the results of a field agent. Would be interesting to still progressing your main game, while on the phone.

Good post overall, I just wanted to respond to a few points.

They're making a Universal Xbox Store for Mobile which will spread across Console, PC and Mobile. Since it's "Xbox" I assume it will be largely gaming focused but the Xbox store has things like Netflix and other Apps on it as well which I assume will also be available on this Mobile Store as well.

Exactly, Console is one part of the overall ecosystem and one part of the ecosystem removed will hurt the overall ecosystem. I think Steam is actually a good comparison, Steamdeck won't need to sell tens of millions to be continued to be made, they're expanding their reach and giving another avenue to their ecosystem.

They could overtime streamline things between Windows Store and Xbox Console Store making them essentially the same thing, or have one universal easily supported store with a very fair cut to developers and then a future Xbox could essentially be a Xbox branded PC but locked down to their Windows Store only, I don't know but I think there's ways to make supporting their Console more enticing than just "We sold 50m+ units!"

Maybe go back to the 360 days that used to give some rewards like profile pictures for playing games. Would be nice if you could unlock avatars, profile picture frames, console themes etc for getting achievements in games.

I've played on PC my entire gaming life. Or at least it's been the most consistent gaming platform my entire gaming life. So this has never affected me much, but I got rid of my Xbox as soon as MS announced all their first party games would be on PC at launch.

So PC/Nintendo console will always be my main gaming combo. I got my PS5 recently out of pure luck, but once Sony does PC day in date, that console is being tossed too lol. I don't mind hardware consolidation.

It's unfortunate, but MS's goal for the Xbox platform to be making $30 billion in revenue by 2030 isn't going to happen if they keep everything just on Xbox and PC. I view it as AA and their big live service games as being multiplatform going forward. Maybe not at launch, but at least a year after launch.

The goal is actually $32bn.

I've said it before, I don't think it happens without another big acquisition.

They'll be low $20s with ABK included, so how will they make the rest of it between now and then? Well they have the planned Mobile Store but that would need to really take of, I think some Mobile investment could maybe bring them in a few billion? Idk. XGS/Zenimax firing on all cylinders possibly brings us to high 20s, some would suggest fully abandoning hardware would help them achieve their goal but I have my doubts and here's why.

ABK, a fully multiplatform company, brought in around $8bn in revenue at its peak, I believe it would be safe to assume that XGS/Zenimax as a fully third party entity would not be bigger than ABK but even if I were generous and said they'd match ABK, 8 + 8 is still only $16bn which is quite a bit off what they'll be today with ABK which is low $20s, the hardware sales bring in billions in revenue, as does the 30% cut.

So to abandon hardware completely I believe would bring their revenue down, not up, even if they went fully third party, or the other scenario is abandoning hardware completely, the loss in revenue would simply match the addition in revenue via going fully third party and we'd be back where we started in terms of revenue.

So I fully expect Microsoft is going to make another large acquisition.

I know when I say that ABK is the biggest third party publisher in the world in terms of revenue, someone may mention NetEase and Tencent but I feel those are unfair comparisons because of the way that China works, due to China's draconian laws those two companies basically have a monopoly over the entire (massive) Chinese market so of course they pull a lot more than ABK.

And also Tencent has investments in practically everything, which just backs my point up even further, Microsoft will need to make more, Lol. Keep feeding that Game Pass machine and I'll be happy though, none of their recent business decisions change anything about how excited I am about their future line-up.

Let's just assume they will make $21 billion in 2023 with ABK included. 2030 isn't for 7 years, so if you adjusted $30 billion in 2020 curency down to current inflation levels, their actual goal is to make, by today's inflation levels of money, around $24 billion. So their goal by 2030 is a $3 billion growth, which over 7 years is probably an indication they aren't factoring in any other mid majornor major purchases.

Yes, I would like it. Seems like a pointless things to have avatars and backgrounds, but I do like it if such small rewards are tied to something I achieved in a game. It is a reminder of my achievement and visually pleasing at the same time.

  • "Copy TrueAchievements"
  • "Paste TrueAchievements"

Lmao. Joking. Nah but they should take a lot of TA's ideas.

  • 100% display case which shows off all the titles you've 100% in one area.
  • Ability to remove titles completely so I can remove 3 achievement Fifa 13 from my gamertag.
  • Separate base game achievements from DLC achievements and consider all base game achievements as a "100%"
  • Give us additional background images for 100% like those free background images but cool alternative ones for 100%

I'm unsure if developers would like 2 and 3, especially 3 because DLC achievements can be used to bait achievements whores into continuing to play a game, Lol. Like you work so hard to get 100% and then 20 DLCs with achievements are added, they know those people wouldn't be able to resist and come back to 100% the game once again, Lol.

Or played cause you felt sorry for someone after their Xbox broke so you let em play Fifa 13 on your profile.

I did a lot of soul searching these last few 5 hours or so. I just can't leave Xbox. 13 plus years. Unwrapping that Christmas gift of that brand new Xbox 360, throwing that kiddie Wii in the closet. It's where I discovered online gaming, and new genres. Where I shot my first gun. Been through the trenches with the underground movement, where I met Jaysus, and Noble. It's where I told someone to go kll themselves for the first time. Where i got called countless slurs.

I'll stick with Xbox until there are no more Xboxes. Maybe re-buy some games on PS, the ones I really like, in preparation for when that day comes where they unplug Xbox.

Xbox is a love story. Sometimes that love just doesn't love you back.

Forever yours Xbox.
