Just want to mention that I don't think we should keep calling it niche since it will likely sell 2-3M.

Not sure about that. Bayonetta 1&2 only sold a million and the same goes for Platinum's previous Switch exclusive Astral Chain. If I remeber correctly, Nier Automata is the only Platinum game that is confirmed to have sold more then 2 million.

Bayonetta 2 sold 1.9 Million between both platforms it released on. Even if you count double dippers that still probably is about 1.5 million unique purchasers assuming half of Wii U buyers of the game double dipped.

The game isn't niche any more, which is probably why they did offer the $15-20k (well above the Equity union rate in Britain of about $7k for 5 days.)

What is the source on the sales numbers for Bayonetta 2 on Wii U?

Those are incorrect. The 280k figure is for the first 9 weeks on the market—not since 2018. Nintendo themselves put out a graph showing the first 9 weeks on the market of the Wii U version and the Switch version. We do not have updated sales.

I wasn't referring to 280k. Although you're right VGC can be off with the 860k estimate.

When I clicked the link, it brought me to that other page that not one.
too many people have just been using the 280k as total sales numbers that I get worked up about it lmao

but I actually don’t think the estimation is far off.

I may be wrong but wasn't people on this thread commenting B2 sold close to 2M? And most titles have increased a lot on Switch.

VGChartz literally stopped making their own software sales estimates because they were rarely accurate. This number may not be off by much but you shouldn't use it as a fact.

Of course the point made is that directionally it is likely more accurate than saying the game barely sold 1 million.

Predicting the sales performance of a new entry in a series from a port isn't a good idea because there is a subset of people who don't double dip but who will buy a new title in the series. And of course new customers as well.

For Switch, because it is a hybrid system, people are more likely to double dip, but double dipping isn't going to be 1:1.

From what I know they stopped doing it because so much of SW sales is full digital nowadays that their number wouldn't reflect reality. But for a WiiU title at that time I think it is reasonably precise (like within 10% margin)
