Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu sales: Week 21, 2022 - (16th May - 22nd May)

Would be interesting to see how much the XBS would sell if they supplied 50k units.

Is demand high enough to sell that much in one week?

Even on launch week they only sold 23562. And that The XBS highest week ever.

And that's all they had on launch. Xbox series could sell 50k for a week or 2

Last week I compared Switch average weekly sales up to Week 20. This week I want to do Week 21 and full calendar year average weekly sales.

Up to Week 21.

2022- 91k
2021- 124k
2020- 108k
2019- 62k
2018- 45k
2017- 42k

Compare that to full calendar year average weekly sales.

2022- 91k (Same)
2021- 107k (-17k)
2020- 114k (+6k)
2019- 86k (+24k)
2018- 67k (+22k)
2017- 65k (+23k)

What does this tell us? 2020 and 2021 beasted the entire year, with the average weekly sales maintaining above 100k for most of the year. 2019 2nd half beasted, but had a poor first half. 2018 and 2017 numbers aren't suitable comparisons at the moment for 2022.

2022 so far is definitely lagging behind 2020 and 2021 and will definitely beat 2018 and 2017. 2019 will be the challenge. So we basically have a range between 3.482m and 4.494m. If 2022 has a good holiday it could even get to 5m.

Xbox Series X/S will most likely outsell the original Xbox. The true challenge will be the 360.

Xbox making inroads in Japan after the Xbone was a relative non-entity.
I don't think it can outsell the 360 but it should become the second highest selling Xbox in Japan by a comfortable margin, which is a significant achievement given the brand's irrelevancy there last gen.

Switch continues to gallop like a champ.

That's all they had in stock. How much could they sell if they had more stock?

Sadly they probably won't ship more than 10k in any future week ever.

Got distracted last week with the XBS sales, check out Switch Sports outselling Elden Ring, the true GotY has risen globally in the Japan=Games. Let's see how the GotY holds up next week or if it goes down to 31k (-12%), and look out for Switch's eBaseball as it should double PS4 sales next week.

Did the Horizon bundle come out this week? I see it has crawled back up to the top 30, but if it is only 1k out of the 14k total I would guess not. Something has at least brought some sales on the software side.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

Yeah curious what prompted Horizon sales, also does famitsu count bundles?
