Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which game from Activision/Blizzard will you miss if they go full exclusive?

Hi there guys.

I`m not asking about if anyone think MS will stop releasing any given franchise on other platforms after the deal is finished. MS won't confirm anything until the deal is fully done, and so far what we have is loosely open statements, but if we go the optimistic route that no games already released will be removed, all deals and already announced titles will release as promised and at least CoD won`t go exclusive there isn`t much to discuss on that end.

So for this thread my question is much simpler one, and you can divide your answer in two categories. One talking about what are current IPs being released in somewhat consistent manner and the other dormant IPs that they haven`t released in a long time.

Also important to note that we are only talking about IPs that have been released in consoles, because otherwise it can`t even be considered as a loss since they won`t remove content from PC at all.

On my end there isn`t much from Activision I would miss, although I have played several CoDs when given for free on PS+ I won`t miss those, Guitar Hero is a dead franchise for me, I liked the remake of Spyro but not crash, and haven`t played the new title, so there is it from top of mind. I`ll do a little research on their Ips to make an answer close to what I have asked =]

List of IPs (source https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/list-heres-every-activision-blizzard-ip-xbox-now-owns-including-crash-bandicoot-and-guitar-hero/ )

  • Blur
  • Caesar
  • Call of Duty
  • Candy Crush
  • Crash Bandicoot
  • Diablo
  • DJ Hero
  • Empire Earth
  • Gabriel Knight
  • Geometry Wars
  • Guitar Hero
  • Gun
  • Hearthstone
  • Heroes of the Storm
  • Hexen
  • Interstate ’76
  • King’s Quest
  • Laura Bow Mysteries
  • The Lost Vikings
  • Overwatch
  • Phantasmagoria
  • Pitfall
  • Police Quest
  • Prototype
  • Quest for Glory
  • Singularity
  • Skylanders
  • Solider of Fortune
  • Space Quest
  • Spyro the Dragon
  • StarCraft
  • Tenchu (legacy games)
  • TimeShift
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
  • True Crime
  • World of Warcraft
  • Zork

So after looking at this list I also liked Warcraft 2 (but not into that type of game anymore for over a decade), loved Tenchu and Tony Hawks on PS1 but would consider they more or less dead IPs at this moment.

With this I think I keep my current perception that at least for me individually I won`t lose much if MS decided to go full exclusivity to MS platforms going forward.

Diablo 4 I guess, I will also miss Spyro and Crash. Doubtful these will go full exclusive if they are being made. Platformers don't do that well on Xbox.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

None.

Spyro and Crash I guess, and even that's a stretch. They're the kind of games I'll get if I see a good deal, but I won't go out of my way to purchase. The only Activision-Blizzard game I've bought in the last decade is the Spyro Reignited trilogy, when I found the physical copy for 20 euros new. Besides that, I don't even remember the last time I've bought one of the publisher's games.

If i buy a blizzard game its on pc not on consoles

I am not gona miss anything.

I ended up not playing (and perhaps I should have), but how good (or bad) is Diablo 3 on console?

Spyro, although its unlikely we would have seen a new Spyro after Crash 4. I'm actually more excited about Toys for Bob making Banjo Kazooie 3 more than I am the prospect of a new Spyro, although with their efficiency I think they could potentially tackle both

Ultimately though I'll get an Xbox as I always have, just a question of when.

I'm inclined to think Spyro 4 will come to a Nintendo platform eventually. Even if it doesn't I can play it on PC Gamepass when it comes out, alongside Warcraft 4, Diablo 4, and any other game on that list.

In a few years most Nintendo/PlayStation gamers will probably also have a PC that can run these games, even the new ones, due to dlss. Won't even need an expensive rig. It really is an amazing innovation that will save gamers money (dlss). Using it on gow 2018 and it's blowing my mind!

On that front you won't need a strong PC if you chose to go the stream route as well.

Exactly! You can still spend $500-600 every 6-7 years on a PS console if you want to play their exclusives when they come out, but instead of spending $1500-2000 on a decent gaming PC during that same window, you could probably get away with spending $1000 or less. And that's if you bought a pre-built one. If you build yourself, even less money (if a desktop).

I already have a PC and Xbox, but for the sake of the argument I’ll pretend I don’t. It would probably be Diablo 4, but that would be about it.

The ABK games I loved and have a long history with were/are basically all the blizzard PC titles. Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo
