No, nobody uses the joycons if they have a choice. Every person I know with a Switch hates them. Yikes. The Switch costs $450 CAD plus tax which is $504, a ridiculous sum when the SNES was $200 and had two controllers and Super Mario World included.

Apparently you can't read. I said the PS5 with a real controller vs. Switch with a real controller, which it is. $500 for the PS5 digital, $540 plus tax for the Switch. Everyone wants the PS5 digital, but they can't get one.

playing with split joycons is actually really comfortable IMO. also prevents wrist strain in the right positons

I agree tbh it's actually quite comfortable especially in table top mode.

You are correct I did mistype

Ignore me

I just wanted to make sure. Here is NY once you add the sales tax the OLED would cost you $381. Still not the same as in the UK. A shame how much UK gamers are getting hurt by the exchange rate compared to the US.

which is why asian prices for switches are the cheapest, actually. though it does depend on local tax for the US...

specifically I think japanese regular switches are only 270$.

The RRP of the OLED switch is $450 in Canada.

The RRP of the PS5 is $629.99 ($499.99 for digital).

And you might hate the joycons but plenty of people have no issue using them for tv gaming. I think they're fine used detached. I don't use the grip thingie though I think that's trash.

low-end hardware you can make a case for but the rest of your post is... yikes.

Well, I can disprove this right now.

I like playing with split Joycons and while I own a Pro controller which I'll use for games like Ori or currently Metroid Dread, I actually prefer the Joycons for other games that are more relaxed/slower paced or use their motion capabilities well like No More Heroes III, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, Luigi's Mansion 3, etc.

Crazy how different people have different preferences, huh?

the real thing is that most people don't get, is that you have to think outside of the box to be comfortable with it, kind of like how the n64 controller was.

if you hold dual joycons like any other controller its uncomfortable...

but its not any other controller.

if a game doesn't require motion controlls, your hands can be WHEREVER YOU WANT and you can still play. on the table? check. on the armrests of a table? check. broke your arms so they are in a cast? you can still play with the joycons without difficutly. you can even fucking play wih a straightjacket on...

As far as the actual thread topic goes, I reiterate that folks should probably temper expectations with regards to OLED first week sales simply due to the global chip crunch. They can only sell what they can make and ship.

Nice opening for Metroid, considering the franchise hasn't been popular there in decades.

Imagine actually typing mindless drivel and then hitting submit lol

Happy to say the Switch OLED is sitting on shelves at our local Bestbuy. Not many interested in it. Gamers don't want to spend over $500 CAD for low end mobile hardware? Without a controller? Shocking, I know. Meanwhile if we could only get more PS5s and XBOXs in stock. Maybe they could start by lowering the price in Canada, where the Switch is truly shockingly expensive.

Since you need a controller and the Switch doesn't come with one (and no, the joycons don't count), it is actually cheaper to buy a PS5 than a Switch.

I remember making a comment similar to this one about the Vita way back when I first used this site and was a dumbass 14 year old and got moderated,  rightfully so. I hope the same happens to you.

Well but in your defense, nobody really wanted to buy a Vita... Kinda...

I was kind of hoping Switch sales would hit 200k+ this week, especially with reports of lotteries being used.  The low supply might have been out of Nintendo's control.  That is a reasonable explanation.  Although this is Nintendo, and I could also see them underestimating demand, which they have been known to do.

Metroid Dread did very well given Metroid sales post 16-bit era.

Looks like Pro Baseball Spirits took the week off. We'll see if it's back next week.

PS4 version of Arise is only 10k from the LTD of the PS4 SKU of Berseria per Game Date Library. Add the PS5 SKU and digital for both PS4/PS5 and it's likely very close to the Berseria LTD for PS4/PS3. Good to see just a month after release.
