Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu sales: Week 41, 2021 - (4th Oct - 10th Oct)

I'd be fairly surprised if the PS5 SKU for Far Cry 6 isn't in the top 30 next week. That'd take a JRPG level of second week drop which isn't something western games typically have.

I looked at the performance of Tales of Arise and Lost Judgement on PS5, which were the two most recent "big" titles.  Tales of Arise had an 87% drop on the second week for PS5.  Lost Judgement had a 90% drop.  If we take the better of these two numbers for Far Cry 6, 87%, then next week's sales will be 2169.  That number would not be good enough to chart this week.

So, I'm not saying it's going to fall off the chart next week for sure.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if it did, especially if it's been performing like other games lately.

One major covet with third party rankings I've not included Aniplex who would be in 10th place as a Third Party Publisher. Even though they are releasing games on the Switch and PS4/PS5, mainly because it would make sense to include Pokemon Co in such a case.

Remainder of the year there are plenty of additional third party games so I won't be surprised if the known third party sales within the Top 50 to be above 10 million, as far as market share Switch will account for over 85% of third party sales this year. This marks a very big shift compared to 2020 where Switch only made up around half of third party sales. If this trend continues into 2022, it's possible that over 90% of third party sales in Japan are achieved on the ecosystem.

I think you meant caveat.

Don't expect wonders by Demon Slayer this week, it will end up opening lower than what Lost Judgement.

I guess in the end platform choice and audience were a big miss-match, looking at the sales of Kakarot despite being an year later port - I expect Aniplex to very quickly announce a Switch version

Demon Slayer spent 5 days in the #1 slot. It's kind of amusing to see that sort of commentary from people who clearly haven't been doing even the bare minimum of position tracking. It will easily surpass Lost Judgment's initial week, lmao.

Using amazon jp at that, a store that famitsu doesn't even track.

Kimetsu being a very casual ip will do well in physical stores.

It's currently 4th place.

Not a good rating though.

Eeek, just noticed FIFA Legacy Edition on Switch, half-arsed shovelware that it is, had a better second week than the real thing on PS4. Now imagine if EA wasn't so lazy in regards to the Switch.

Imagine if the PS4 version didn't have 80-100% sellthrough whereas the Switch verison has 40-60% sellthrough, making it far easier to find in stock in stores.

does that change anything about the actual amount sold?
