Anytime I want to dig out the Wii. I ned to find the stupid sensor bar. Set that up. Then if I want a normal controller I have to have this stupid Wii remote dangling down in my lap. It's stupid. |
Pretty sure wireless controller options exist for Wii.
Regarding the Wiimote and nunchuck, I remember having a negative reaction to them when I first saw pictures of the Wii. But actually using them (in games where your arms aren't flailing about), I instantly found it to be the most relaxing gaming experience of any controller. I didn't have to have my hands bound together in front of me the entire time. Each hand could rest comfortably over each armrest of my reclining chair. Same goes for the joycons. I can use them in so many more comfortable sitting/lying down positions. If it weren't for the drift issue, which I have experienced with mine, I would use them more than my pro controller to be honest. But, that's a matter of personal preference. I know a lot of people love the dual shock PS controllers, but I've always found them to be uncomfortable compared to the Pro/Xbox style controller. Whenever I would play sports games at my friends house, I would always feel like I had to stretch my left thumb out to reach the thumstick and callouses would develop on my thumb as a result.
I'm not even sure why this is close. The only things I really like about the Gamecube are the GBA player and the Fire Emblem game. Dark Souls alone is better than entire Gamecube library combined. And the PS3 had 3 Souls games. It also had a ton of other great games: Civ Revolution, several Rock Band games, Pixeljunk Monsters, Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim, Valkyria Chronicles, D&D Legends of Mystara, etc.... Just a whole bunch of great games.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
My Bet With curl-6
My Threads:
Master Thread, Game of the Year/Decade
Switch Will Be #1 All Time
Zelda Will Outsell Mario (Achieved)
How Much Will MH Rise sell?
My Bet With Metallox

Yes. Easily.

I definitely played my gamecube more. I only really played the god of war and uncharted games on ps3. I got all my multiplats on my 360. If I didnt have a 360 I might lean towards ps3 but I liked gamecube more

That factored into my criteria as well. If we take the 360 out of the equation and leave the PS3 the only place where I could play Bioshock and all of the other great games of the 7th gen, then PS3 has a much stronger case. And that's certainly one way to grade them. But when I think of Bioshock on console I think of it as a 360 game because I played it there over a year before it ever came out on PS3, and as others have said, many 3rd party games just ran better on 360.
It's similar to how I compare the Gamecube vs the Wii. Objectively speaking, the Wii would win hands down because it plays everything Gamecube can and tons more, including the Virtual Console. Plus, Wii has even better versions of two of my favorite Gamecube games, Metroid Prime and RE4. But those games didn't have the same effect on me that they had several years earlier when I first experienced them on the Cube (although Prime's control was god-like with the IR pointer). In fact, even comparing the 1st party offerings on each console I prefer GC to Wii except where Mario is concerned, as Galaxy and MK Wii absolutely destroy Sunshine and Double Dash and we got a 2D Mario out of it. But to me, Wind Waker is vastly better than Skyward Sword, Thousand Year Door > Super Paper Mario, Smash and Animal Crossing impressed me more on Gamecube, the Pikmin remakes had too many bugs (no pun intended) and other Nintendo published titles like Eternal Darkness, F-Zero GX and Rogue Leader were more my cup of tea than Wii Sports/Play/Fit. We did finally get a new Punch Out on Wii though... that was nice.
All in all, I look at it as how I would list my favorite consoles of all time: Gamecube would be in the top 5 for sure, whereas the PS3 wouldn't rank anywhere in the top 10.

Yeah I played all my 7th gen multiplats on 360, so my PS3 library is solely exclusives. Still, I feel it would be unfair of me not to include those games when assessing PS3, as I'd still include BOTW when assessing Switch for example despite owning it on Wii U.
I only own about half a dozen games each for both Gamecube and PS3 now that I've sold off all the ones I didn't really like. Both have a small nucleus of excellent exclusives, but the multiplats of the 7th gen appealed to me so much more than those of the 6th gen so that tips it in PS3's favour.

In my brain I break it down by genre or unique content in general.
Fighting games: PS3 dominates Gamecube unless you really love GC's Smash Bros.
Racing games: PS3 dominates unless you love GC's Mario Kart and maybe some EA racers of the 6th gen.
Adventure/Platformers: PS3 dominates unless you really like Mario and Zelda games it had.
Hack n' slash: PS3
3rd person shooters: PS3
FPS: The average person would say PS3 unless you really enjoy Metroid Prime.
Open World Games: I mean c'mon... PS3.
Whatever the fuck genre Animal Crossing is, Gamecube wins that. But PS3 has shit like Minecraft.
WRPGS: PS3
JRPGS: PS3... Unless you really love Skies of Arcadia and Phantasy Star Online.
Arcade bullshit: PS3
Countless fucking indie games: PS3
Star Wars Games: Gamecube
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Gamecube and still have one along with a collection of games. But I think I can put together a bigger list of notable/enjoyable PS3 games than Gamecube's library. Some of Gamecube's most notable 3rd party content was also ported to PS3.
