80% digital, included digital games only it's not a good metric.

How is it not a good metric? All the major AA/AAA titles, and a variety of indie titles, have digital/physical versions. The best selling titles on the Playstation platform are AAA titles. Or do you think digital only indies represent the majority of sales on the Playstation platform?

He isn’t even saying that now, he literally pointing out it’s not 80% which he is correct, it can be 50%/60% or even 70% but it’s not 80% unless you think no indie game sold on ps platform. I’ll give you example on a random sold number.

100,000,000 games sold (physical/digital), you believe 80,000,000 are digital that has a physical copy and 20,000,000 are physical. That’s if 0 digital only games sold.

Reality with again 100,000,000 example.... 65,000,000 digital (that have a retail copy) 20,000,000 are physical and 15,000,000 is digital only.

There is a difference, and I’m not sure if that figure was suppose to include mtx/dlc cuz if it does that 65% goes even lower

Also the digital only software includes shovelware and other small games that go on sale for 90% or more. Those certainly sell alot, especially since there are alot of them.

12 third party Switch games in the top 30 this week, including 4 of the top 10.

My original point was the weekly charts lack context when it comes to PS5 software. The digital split doesn't have to be 80% to show that PS5 software sales in Japan aren't as gloomy as many assume, especially when we know Sony had 65% of software sales coming from digital downloads in FY20, with that number rising to 80% in Q4. MTX/DLC is not included in those figures as you can see on pg. 9 in this financial report:

Supplemental Information for the Consolidated Financial Results for the Fourth Quarter Ended March 31, 2021 (sony.com)

Despite Sony manufacturing the majority of PS5's with a disc drive the majority of sales are still coming through PSN.

The monthly PSN download chart tells a different story.

The problem, with numbers we have, only have one answer: PS5 has, so far, a dreadful software performance in the Japanese market.

Xbox 360 has better performance, in the same time frame.

The rest is speculation and make-belief conclusion

Uh, that's a dreadful comparison, considering the majority of software sales back then were coming from retail. We have actual data to show us the shift from physical to digital which didn't really begin until the last decade. Again, look at pg.9 of the financial report I posted above.

Even then, considering how bad Xbox are faring in Japan, getting beaten by them is a bad sight either way. PS5 is outselling the 360 like 5:1 for the same timeframe, so even with 80% digital versions of the physically available games PS5 should at least have about even sales with the 360, not worse in terms of software.

https://jp.gamesindustry.biz/article/2104/21042701/

It's about MH Rise, Capcom, japanese love physical games( and substitute for digital not aways converts in sales),  Japanese houses and TV, and pandemic effects ( Japanese text).
