Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu sales: Week 17, 2021 - (Apr 19 - Apr 25)

PS5 got a title at #11 this week. That is just barely shy of the top 10. We are starting to get to the time where PS5 titles can regularly place in the top 30. However, we are not yet to the point where hardware sales are based on software releases. All of those hardware sales are not due to a game that places #11 at launch.

Next week there will be less than 5 million between Switch and 3DS

You must not forget that the games price is very low.

That is a good catch.  I didn't see the prices.  1800 Yen is pretty low (about $18).

Switch's model ratio shows a healthier supply this week, this could be aroundabout it's new baseline when stock allows, at least when there's not a holiday or a new game release.

Looks like this is more or less the end of the line for PS4.

Also yikes at Xbox Series, a new system, being outsold more than 5:1 by a console that's been discontinued for 7 months.

Considering how strong the fluctuations are with the Series X and how the response was to a restock on Amazon Japan, I'm very sure it's also very supply-limited at the moment, possibly even more so relatively speaking than the other consoles right now in Japan.

Playstation had a 80% digital split for their last quarter, 65% digital split for FY20, PS5 software in Japan is not as gloomy as weekly charts may indicate.

How much did the original Demon's Souls sell in Japan? The remake had IIRC 40K copies sold at retail, and if Sony's financial reports are any indication, DeS is anywhere from 150K - 200K with digital sales.

Also famitsu doesn't track amazon jp sales.. so yeah, even those won't appear. Very undertracked system % wise, adding to the whole supply constrained situation.

is gloomy because sony counts dlc, digital only games, and other things with sales. the number is not on par this way you think.

The digital 80% counts everything, and the physical, Japan is the second market in size and have strong physical sales history.

neither Amazon and digital famitsu estimates are jokes.
