Yeah they did. They turned their first party from 5 studios to over 20 studios, they released a new subscription service (gamepass) with over 18 million users. The situation MS is in right now is much better than they were in 2013.

Ugh, not this again.

"They have 23 studios"

"Yeah but, the generation is over and we got only a bunch of exclusives"

"I said 23 STUDIOS, didn't you hear me ?"

"Yeah, but what about the games ?"

"23 studios, that's huge, how many studio do you have ?"

I mean those studios making games as we speak. The games will come out. Game development takes time, especially with a pandemic.

The point is that most people are far more optimistic with the future of Xbox now than they were in 2013 because of the moves Microsoft of the changes MS has done to bolster their first party and create and awesome service that gives people a lot of games to play.

Respectable? I actually find it embarrassing after almost 8 years. Nintendo just crossed the 80 millionth unit sold in less than half of that time period and Sony is close to 120 million within the same timeline. No wonder Microsoft is… wait for it, embarrassed to show sales figures, because it is, well… embarrassing.

I think it's an ok number considering how bad they fucked up XB1's launch. The whole TV, Sports, TV and get a 360 if you want to play offline... Yikes. And then they went ahead and killed many of their studios. It's a miracle how well XB1 sold if anything

I think the Switch can surpass the Xbox 360 which is at 85.8 million lifetime sales at the end of May.

Yup. 7-8 weeks with 400k-ish per week average. It's definitely doable

July - August PS3 and in Dec Wii/PS ... most likely. If they release rumoured Pro revision this year, perhaps even quicker.

Gotta love that cliff the Switch fell off of mid last year.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

50 million is a good milestone even though last gen was hard for MS they’ve done a great job at turning things around. Hopefully the Series X can sell much more than the Xbox One when it’s all said and done.

Did they really turn thing around tho ?

The console spent 4/5 of its life heavily discounted, they released 4 iterations, they even released a console way way more powerful than any other console, they implemented Game Pass, but still get quickly outsold by a 2015 tablet which costed more, was way less powerful and had way less 3rd party support, with games being sold at full price. And the success of the console is pretty much limited to the US market and the UK.

I believe the console would eventually ended up selling 50 million anyway, which will become I believe the baseline for upcoming Xbox consoles in the future.

No way. Early in its life, after the first couple months, the XBox One was barely selling above the WiiU globally and was on pace to only sell like 20-25 million. I think 50 million was the best case scenario for the One after that abysmal start, so they did turn it around pretty well, thanks to the very measures you describe. Now they have better momentum and the Series consoles are regularly selling much better weekly numbers than the One was at this point.

Considering how badly they screwed up in 2013 getting to about 60% of the 360's sales in the end isn't that bad. If they continued screwing up that bad it probably wouldn't have reached 40 million. Now they're in a much better place compared to 2013 and I expect Series X/S to get to at least 60 million and recover at least some of the ground they lost since gen 7.

PS4 is Sony's second best selling console and Switch will be the best selling console of all time. 50 millions is a good number. Not great, but still higher than a lot of consoles.

What are you talking about, Swith fell off a cliff in 2018 because they already released all their big games in its first year.

Then it fell off another one in 2019 because Pokemon and Smash were all they had left.

Then again in 2020 because they definitely had no system sellers left after Sword and Shield.

Then again this year cos PS5 and Xbox Series are out now, and 2020 was definitely the peak and there's no Nintendo system has peaked after its 4th year therefore its impossible.

Well when the game will come out, the studios will matter.

For now, we only got The Medium, and it was a disappointment.
