Yea but ... you're saying those games are unheard of relative to Hades ... which is still an indie game, so that's a futile point for this type of discussion. Even though it will most likely be their most successful game, even if it outsells their most successful title by 1.5-3 million copies, it would still be an indie game and not even that out of the realm of the titles they already created sales wise. So your logic doesn't add up. Regardless, if you won't want to argue, just don't say wrong things.

Did their other games get nominated and win some full GOTY awards by various prestigious organizations like Hades did?

Instead of saying that I'm saying wrong things, you could have just stayed your opinion without being insulting.

Um ... this is literally the first thing I hyperlinked you .... Bastion Wins 100+ Awards, Sells More than 500,000 Copies | Supergiant Games

It literally won best downloadable game and best soundtrack at what was basically the precursor to the actual Game Awards.

:-|

And no, I'm sorry but when you go this far to defend being purposefully ignorant on a sales site that is literally about the collection of data, I don't feel bad. You could have just not double downed and done some research but instead you decided to keep digging further. We can end it here but yea, I don't have sympathy for ignorance for the sake of ignorance when someone keeps pushing a point they are obviously wrong on. You didn't even check the links I made which would probably answer most of your questions about their prior games, hell probably didn't even read the post

I would like to see Immortals Fenyx Rising as an option for overall game of the year, it is great.

And I have a question: How is the policy on early access games? The reason I ask: I really like the Baldur's Gate III early access. I would totally get it, if it is not available for voting, because it is early access. But it would suck if it not is up for voting once released (hopefully next year), because it deserves to be in the running.

Added.

Early Access doesn't count until it's officially released.

Thanks and thanks for the info. So I hope Baldur's Gate III wins next year or whenever it drops.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

bets: [GTA6]

So many of my votes were split between FFVII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us Part II. FFVII Got it for me in most instances. Absolute gem of a game, that is. I know why some people hate it, but I thought it was basically the best if could be given its constraints and I'm more excited for the future of Final Fantasy now than I have been since 2006 between VII Remake part 2 and XVI.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

I guess I can vote for the Demon's Soul's soundtrack since it's the same as the original. And maybe some art direction thing because I watched a few videos.

- "If you have the heart of a true winner, you can always get more pissed off than some other asshole."

My favorite games this year were...

1) The Last of Us Part II
2) Spiritfarer
3) Hades
4) Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

...in that order, and it speaks to the inefficacy of this ballot that I voted for Sakuna in two categories and Spiritfarer in none. I feel like there needed to be like either a category for management games or else that Spiritfarer should've been included in the adventure category so I could for it there. Really though, the problem is likely with me, as I always have difficulty categorizing things in ballot form like this. My reasons for liking games as much as I do certain ones tend to be on the subjective side and difficult to articulate. Really I liked these four games the best, in that order, primarily for narrative reasons, so I mean ideally I'd have been able to rank games by category and weight my choices for their categorical importance to me, but that's not how these systems work! Oh well, I voted. Thanks for the opportunity! This is my first time participating in the awards voting. Guess that's 'cause I don't often have strong opinions about many of the nominees.

I mean we already know the baseline outcome of this vote really. Animal Crossing will win Overall Game of the Year on VGC and TLOU2 will be picked as Most Disappointing, whereas my own picks would obviously be quite different from that (TLOU2 as Overall Game of the Year and Cyberpunk 2077 as Most Disappointing), but 'tis to be expected. At least I felt passionately enough about some of the nominees to bother participating this year. That makes this a good year for gaming in my book.

You have strong ideas about what others vote. I see a lot here like TLOU2. Others dislike it. It might be possible, it wins in both categories. Cyberpunk might also be a good contender for most disappointing.

Regarding a game potentially winning Goty but not any individual categories, that actually makes sense to me and I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Goty just means when evaluating all the things that matter to you (for me that's story, art style, music, graphics, if it's fun, if the controls are good) the game had the best average when factoring those things in. In categories, when I vote, I don't vote for the best game in that category. I vote for the game that does that category best. If my favorite game of the year wasn't actually the best demonstration of an RPG, for example, then it wouldn't win my vote in that category, but it would still win Goty for me because of all the other things that matter to me averaging out.

Exactly!! For example, I picked Ghost of Tsushima for Best Art Direction because it factually does make me feel like I'm there in feudal Japan, BUT, for unrelated reasons, it still wasn't one of my top favorites of the year overall.

It can't be said that I have a set formula for what I consider to constitute a good game because I've been surprised too many times over the years by games I didn't think I'd like, but in general I kinda like certain themes and just creativity in general really. I also think games are becoming a very powerful storytelling medium. This year, for example, I got more into the storylines in my favorite games than into those of any new films I saw.

It's surprising to me that Origami King wouldn't be nominated for best soundtrack, especially with how many options there are. Despite a lot of great OSTs this year, it still had the most lasting impression on me, and is far and away my favorite, even coming from a series I don't normally care for the music in. There's other good options there too though. Just figured I would give it some recognition in a post.

Yeah! Story has become my most important thing in games over the years. It's always a shame when I play a game that does everything else perfectly but had a lazy story. I want games to be like a good book.
