Forums - Sony Discussion - Anyone else felt underwhelmed with the FF XVI reveal?

The game is made by the team that made FFXIV, not the ones who made XV.

So the parallel between XIV and XVI is actually more apt.

The tone and the combat are straight ripped from FFXV, the FFXIV paint job on the outside doesn't matter.

The game is still developed by the team that made XIV.

Did you play XIV?

No reason to be concerned yet.

Headed up by the FF14 A Realm Reborn studio.

Then the looks make sense now.

My main desire is to see the Ivalice team back and making a game. Their presence is missed.

Hmm, pie.

It looked pretty average to me. I didnt like the series shift to arpg from turn based (which has been going on for a while) and the gameplay looked mediocre.
Additionally, the setting looks boring and none of the characters really interested me. Will likely give this one a miss when it comes out.

There was also the news a couple months ago that the battle designer of DMC5 had joined the SE team of this game, presumably cause they wanted something similar. Seeing this reveal, I do get some vibes of a DMC game style.

Im always concerned when the topic is Square and mainline FF games.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Visually its not serving the punch I would like but Im still very excited. It seems like they've scaled down in some ways and I am actually excited by that. Its still a while off, so I will wait to see more,

Hmm... well I do like that they are going for a medieval setting this time around.

But the complete lack of party members greatly concerns me. They ditch turn-based/realtime combat... ok fine whatever, but if they're removing party members completely then i have no interest in this game at all.

It looked great to me. I never played FF15, but this one looks like devil may cry inspired it or something!

The game looked lifeless. Square Enix needs to make another big budget 2D mainline Final Fantasy. Would be a nice change of pace and reinvigorate the franchise.

Except for the part that FFXIV needed to be killed off to be...well reborn again..
