Forums - Microsoft - Official Xbox July Showcase 2020 thread

Very interesting in seeing how Fable looks and can’t wait to see something on it. I think it was really cheap of MS to end on basically nothing but a CG teaser for it. Should have just held it back until a full trailer could have been shown.
Avowed shows a lot of promise and has Elder Scrolls vibes but still no release date for that.
Quite a few money hats going on which is fine. at least now we all see that everybody does it and it’s not exclusive to just one company.
Console launch exclusive = Timed exclusive I presume. For example Medium is a timed exclusive?
Anyways, lack of game play for this show. However it was great for Halo fans even though it doesn’t look as polished as I thought it would.
Be interesting to see if the community adapts to games such as interactive drama pieces and a Transgender game or if they will fly under the radar.
The whole show seemed more geared towards a commercial for Game Pass rather than a reason to purchase a Series X.
Overall imo 5/10

Halo looked meh at best.At first I thought it was a remastered version of an older game they were showing before infinite.Kill zone on ps4 looked better.

I'm sure you did.

Halo was the star of the show, some good announcements and reveals but not the killer show Xbox really needed.

Was it, though? I was watching that demo thinking "Wait, is this like a Halo 3 remaster or something? it barely looks better than last gen Halo games."

Seriously, was that the Xbox One version? Ratchet & Clank looked considerably better and more impressive from a visual standpoint by a wide margin. And that's not even a AAA game!

Dont want to stir up anything, but how is that trolling? Just seems like a comparison of the two new consoles games.

Anyway, if Xbox fans like the presentation, then thats all that matters I guess. I just dont think they convinced many others.

I would call Ratchet AAA, its just a different genre which typically requires less resources.

Halo 3 to Halo 4 on 360 actually represented a much bigger visual leap for me (bar resolution), but for fans who are already on board I think that gameplay additions like the more open map and the grabbling hook, probably carry more excitement then for jaded folk. I haven't played a halo game since 2012, so I really was hoping for that big, revolutionary reboot but it really felt like a smooth but fairly random selection of gameplay with none of the suspense I've come to expect from gameplay reveals.

While it wasn't stunning looking, Halo didn't look current gen at all. This clear detailed looking draw distance can't be achieved using current gen consoles. People need to keep in mind that it is a fast paced open world shooter with many enemies on the screen. It is not supposed to be the "screen shot" game of any generation. Halo 4 was a technical masterpiece when it launched but it never was a game where you stop for a second and admire the graphics. It was the overall fluid package.

The biggest surprise for me today was State of Decay 3. We knew they were trying to push this franchise to be AAA but I never thought they would reach this level this fast. Extremely impressed by the trailer. I hope the game would come close to this quality.

I was hoping to see Splinter Cell or Ninja Gaiden.

The Halo part was. I mean you may dislike the graphics or find some issues (like I saw the stuff poping in the background) but comparing it to Halo 3 and pretending you believed it was a remaster is simply trolling and over the top.

You can see the demo on YouTube right now at 4K and it looks gorgeous and it looks like a new Halo game all the way.
Maybe not to someone's taste, maybe not as detailed as other next gen games. But this is by not close to look like a remaster.

Fair enough. I just read it as a Halo fan that was disappointed.

This is one of the most disappointing conferences ever

My god, Halo Infinite went back to old school root with bigger open map and my favorite old school hook mechanic as well as grab n' throw object.

The Medium, it's been 3000 years, where the fuck have you been for entire fucking 8th gen era?!!!!

AVowed. Yes! A healthy competition to TES franchise! Give me this first person RPG game while Bethesda Game Studios working on TES 6.

Psychonauts 2.... Thank you.

Still buying new Forza Motosport.

Warhammer 40K Darktide should be fun, i hope. Since it's a co-op 4 players game.

And finally new Fable does exist.

8/10
