I for one am glad the people at Sony aren't this tone deaf...

Assuming you were this concerned about the world issues, you wouldn't waste your time playing games or reading news about games when there is so much disaster happening around the world.

Lets not be hypocrites here.

You act like Sony is canceling the PS5 altogether because of civil unrest. You'll be okay if they have to move the event a week or two. The selfishness amongst some in the gaming community is uncanny.

It’s a good PR move. They look compassionate but make no mistake they just don’t want to reveal anything while the protests are very much still active. As a gamer it’s not my problem they delayed but i imagine some people got “blue balled” given we were so close to the date.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Maybe they don't want to get in the way of the last of us2? I can't see how the protest has anything to do with it. People need a bit of escape instead of all negative news cosntantly. They could have always started the presentation with a mention of the protest.

The memorial is on that day. Protests are nation wide and pretty severe. Pretty easy to see this is not the time. Maybe they will show it in a week or 2. Puts it right on target where E3 would have been anyway.

Haha blue balled. That’s a pretty perfect way of wording it. This situation is miserable all around, and I don’t disagree with the delay, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t die a little inside when I saw it was delayed.

Oh, fucking bs. Now, I definitely say with full enthusiasm (though I already was)...Fuck the rioters. Fuck the looters. You've done nothing but hurt the cause. Even when the actual family of George Floyd constantly say this is not what the man would want, it doesn't matter. His death didn't matter. It was just an excuse. Gotta get your free shit. And burn down your own neighborhoods. That'll show them.

Madden is a very US centric franchise, so that delay is understandable.

The PS5 event on the other hand is highly anticipated all around the world and postponing it would do the perception of the Black community absolutely no favors. Sony has already showed their support for the cause on twitter and might include another nod in the presentation and I think that's the best kind of action they can take concerning the situation.

Sony has postponed the event. I don't think gamers should take frustration with the postponement out on African Americans who simply do not want to be killed by cops anymore. What is your take now?

I wasn't aware the date coincided with the memorial service for George Floyed and in light of that it's the right decision to postpone the event, especially after Sony expressed strong support of the BLM movement.

The Black community has every right to protest the situation of police brutality and outright murder against them especially in but not limited to the US and I would be very happy if that shit was finally addressed properly after in the last years the abundance of video recording devices made it crystal clear that the situation they have to deal with (for atleast decades - and it must have been even worse prior to the civil rights movement) is nothing short of inhumane.

Maybe I've become too jaded after having read about dozens of horrible murders at the hands of police since the eerily similar Eric Garner case 6 years ago, which pretty much all ended in nothing being done and officers often not even being charged or being acquitted and maybe I'm underestimating the (very very loose) gamer 'community' 's capability of empathy as it feels to me that very vocal elements are often successfully spreading cynical and divisive messages.

My stance is that the event should still happen pretty soon (within 2 weeks) - obviously a problem as long lasting, complicated and ingrained into the system as the one at hand won't be anywhere near 'solved' within that timeframe and judging by the administration in charge it won't even be acknowledged as a problem.

The delay could genuinely only be a matter of days, Thursday is still a while away. It all depends on how things escalate now

It's a good call by Sony, gives them some extra points in the PR area (well, maybe not for some right-wingers). I'm sure whatever amount of days the delay is, you people will survive.

Probably just a short delay until next week. It was supposed to happen Friday, right? Fri-Sun are bound to be big protest days.

I think these protests could last months...   its almost degradeing to think the movement of BLM will just fizzle out within a few more days.

If that happends, then all these protests achieved NOTHING, and killed and ruined your cities (burning, looting) for nothing.
Ontop of all that, it spread the virus even more amid this pandemic. This protest wont end so soon.
Unless theres a police reform (change of some law), at the very least, it would be a defeat for these protesters, and that just isnt happending in a few days.

The question is, does it push the console releaseing of xbox and playstation, into 2021 ?
