The whole topic is on how it was presented, how being only for developers was part of the problem...so you admit trying to deflect their lack of showmanship. |
I agree that the GDC presentation was a pretty bad first impression of the ps5. The SSD centric design sounds amazing but they dropped the ball by at least not showing a tech demo of what it actually can do. Now everybody is just talking about the Tflops as hardly anyone got what Cerney was talking about.
However, in the end it's not going to matter. Once Sony does their official unveil, show a box that actually fits under a tv, will likely be $100 or more cheaper and touch on games like HZD2, Spiderman 2, a new ND sci-fi game etc. making full use of the SSD tech by delivering incredible detailed open worlds, Gears 5 running at ultra settings will probably look boring as shit in comparison.
Both companies are coming out of the gate with 2 totally different strategies. But you have to understand that, in theory, the ps5 SSD tech will allow Sony's 1st party studios to do things with their games that the Series X simply can't and those games will likely stand out a lot. While on the flip side, Series X's exclusives will just be just be upscaled X1 games for the first couple of years, and will be held back by Lockhart for the remainder of the console generation. I just don't see that working out great for Series X, at all.
