Is that so? Last I heard, MS didn't make much money in the 360 era, one of the reasons being the 1bln+ $ they lost for the rrod fiasco.

That was 2007. Since then and for the rest of the gen the 360 made a ton of profit every year. And while we all hated it, Kinect especially made a lot of $$ in the later years.
