Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Staring into the abyss of a world where Nintendo has no games scheduled for release. Edit: The Time of Darkness Has Arrived

It's tough. It's making me think back to some of the Wii U days. The difference though is that the Switch has had far more third-party titles (even if there is a lot of shovelware), has some Wii U ports, and has had very acclaimed new first-party games.

I really don't know what Nintendo software to expect this year. The next Zelda could come out in November, but it's very likely to not release until 2021. We get Mario games every year, so we might get Mario Golf or perhaps even Super Mario Odyssey 2. Maybe even a new Paper Mario in the style of the first two.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

PS4: 130 mil (was 100 million) Xbox One: 55 mil (was 50 mil) Switch: 110 million (was 73, then 96 million)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

The next full proper Direct must be next Thursday, on 26 March... or Nintendo will be doomed again ! :D

I mean... I get what you are saying. But we have Animal Crossing this week, Trials of Mana in April, The Wonderful 101 in May... then we have DOOM Eternal, Xenoblade Chronicles, Deadly Premonition 2, No More Heroes III and Gods & Monsters scheduled for this year... and Bayonetta 3, Shin Megami Tensei V, Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4 with TBD release dates. Plus all the indies in the world, plus whathever Nintendo hasn't announced yet. So... I wouldn't come as far as to say that there is a huge drought. It could be better... but it's not like we don't have anything to play.

More than not having games... is the lack of information and the lack of confirmed release dates that is really bugging me. Nintendo should really have a big Nintendo Direct that puts their cards on the table.

I think what the OP is trying to get across is that something is usually announced for PS4, even if it doesn't have a release date or is 5 years in the future. Example is Naughty Dog alone:

TLOU: Announced Dec 2011, released June 2013

Uncharted 4: Announced Nov 2013, released May 2016

TLOU II: Announced Dec 2016, releasing May 2020

Other games from ND or Sony studios fill in the gaps, so there is always a big game to look out for.

While for Switch, we have no idea what is coming 2020, 2021, 2022 etc.

BOTW2, Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 are coming. That's at least 3 big ones to look forward to.

Not a complete void then!

Good chance to catch up on that backlog.

It's almost like Nintendo never really changed.

Mario and Tingle released coronavirus, this should be enough for the rest of the year.

That's what I'm doing right now. Finishing up on Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. After that game, I'll play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Bayonetta 1 and Vanquish on my PS4 Pro. :)

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
